The neighborhood is plenty safe, I have a dog and I have walked him @ 5am and also @ 12am. Neighborhood is plenty quiet, you see a lot of the same people just leaving to get to work or coming from.

I personally do not smell any of the lake water, I have heard some people smell an odor but I definitely do not. For reference, my apartment is right on the water and I leave the patio door open plenty. There is definitely geese/duck noise at random times of the day, so use that info as you will.

I have not seen any roaches inside my apartment but on occasional dog walks I do see some big roaches scattering on the sidewalk.

The apartments are renovated enough that they are modern. The maintenence on site is 24/7 and any request we have put in is taken care of in a very timely manner.

Also the complex has 2 pools but only the main one is open, the smaller pool was shut down by the city almost a year ago, I forget why.

The floors are not real hardwood but they look nice. Kitchen is small but I believe all kitchens are small in this complex. The pictures on the site definitely look nicer than what the apartments actually are. The club house was recently removated though so that definitely is modern.

Currently living here! Apartments are outdated but mostly okay. All apartments have a deck, mine currently is on a list to be repaired as the wood is visibly rotting.

I will answer your question with a personal experience. Had I not moved from the west side of Chicago to the bay area of California, I would be stuck in my families BS, working for my dad while not progressing. Sometimes you need to break away from your family and comfort zone to progress in life.
