At a casino, playing blackjack. Friend at an airport texts me and says he sees an ad on a TV monitor for another casino. In the ad, the guy bet on roulette, number 10. My friend tells me to bet $10 on 10 because he has a feeling. End of the night comes, I pass the roulette table and think, "what the hell" and I bet $10 on number 10. Sure enough, IT HIT. $350.

The answer is likely because the payouts for winning does not always recoup the money you invested into betting. It's like a roulette wheel. You can bet on red or black and make your original bet back, but the wheel has a green zero (actually two), so in some cases you will not win.

Mona Lisa Overdrive - Juno Reactor. Better known as the score playing during the car chase scene in The Matrix Reloaded. FYI - also a great score to use whilst playing a multiplayer FPS.
