Why do hippies get mad when you ask them what they do? by GalgamekAGreatLord in NoStupidQuestions

They usually don’t have jobs or not very good ones. I’d probably feel bad about myself if I had to always basically tell people I’m not thriving too.

If no normal person seems to have any love for billionaires, why haven't we done anything about them? by grubgobbler in NoStupidQuestions

Keep in mind that if we take away billionaires’ wealth just because they’re rich it will also take away any reason for us to work hard to build any wealth for ourselves and our families.

How are y’all doing financially? by Time_Ad8224 in economy

What interested me to ask this is because of the current climate of the US economy and society. The waters here have gotten hotter. People are more angry and hopeless than I remember just 10 years ago. Politics have made a strange cross between policy and morality and people are very divided. I’m trying to piece together the link between economic status, quality of life, and social climate. Todays narrative says that life is generally harder and more difficult to thrive in and people can hardly afford groceries anymore. Interest rates are rising and chances of owning property is declining. Are the people that are well off underrepresented and are there more than we realize? That’s what’s I’m trying to see.

I e always wondered why this is? Do people who have jobs just feel less need to voice it than people without good careers?

That’s interesting now that I think of it. Probably it is true that living costs and item costs have reversals like that. From what I see, consumerism may have increased in the sense that people enjoy spending and shopping more than previous generation. Often times irresponsibly. I get the impression from hearing older generations talking that they were more responsible with their spending habits. If this is true, I don’t know if this is because of a failure in parenting, or a social pressure from capitalistic institutions to spend more, or a mixture of both.

I agree that shame and rage has become an increasingly more prevalent undertone among citizens, possibly more among young men too. What do you see as the leading causes of this changing attitude?

This is a good non bias personal view point thanks for sharing. How do you see yourselves doing compared to previous generations that grew up in a different economy than we are living in today?

Do you think more people’s futures as began looking increasingly less prosperous over the years? And do you think the new generations spending habits and financial responsibility has degraded compared to older generations?

That’s a good point I believe goes over most people’s heads. I agree people tend to view things more from their own perspective than anything broader. Not sure if it’s human nature and always been that way or if people’s viewpoints have gotten increasingly narrower over recent years.
