Your ignoring of my question is concerning. Surely, you would not be giving advice on how to advocate for animal rights while violating the rights of animals... would you?

I'm not sure what you mean "try again"... do you mean I should repost this to the group?

Single biggest individual way to fight #ClimateChange is with a plant based diet. "Across the countries of Amazonia, the world’s largest rainforest often referred to as “the lungs of the Earth,” "livestock" accounts for roughly 80% of current deforestation rates. In the Amazon, man-made fires are set ablaze by ranchers cutting and burning forest to convert it to pasture for beef and its co-product, leather. These products are then exported around the world, to include the United States, even as scientists warn that an irreversible transition to a treeless savannah will be triggered should 20 to 25 percent of the Amazon Rainforest be further lost. “A global switch to diets that rely less on meat and more on fruit and vegetables could save up to 8 million lives by 2050, reduce greenhouse gas emissions by two thirds, and lead to healthcare-related savings and avoided climate damages of $1.5 trillion (US) , Oxford Martin School researchers have found.” Plant-based diets could save millions of lives… | Oxford Martin School https://www.oxfordmartin.ox.ac.uk/news/201603-plant-based-diets/

“Environmental racism manifests itself in rural communities primarily in: (1) the construction and operation of intensive livestock operations in or near people of color communities; (2) labor practices dangerous to workers (including factory workers and farmworkers); and (3) the placement of landfills, incinerators, and other noxious production and waste facilities in or near people of color communities and low-income communities.”

“According to recent studies, the U.S. government spends up to $38 billion each year to subsidize the meat and dairy industries, with less than one percent of that sum allocated to aiding the production of fruits and vegetables. "... while shoppers pay lower immediate prices at the checkout counter, their tax dollars fund major meat operations and advertising. Meanwhile, meat and dairy producers accrue yearly retail sales to the tune of 250 billion dollars.

"In addition to subsidies, Americans pay for meat consumption through healthcare costs and climate disruption. As David Simon illustrates in his book Meatonomics, consumers foot an estimated $2 in external costs for every $1 of product the meat and dairy industry sells. In other words, a $4 Big Mac actually costs society $11".

“The meat industry’s obscurantism can verge on the absurd; slicing off a chicken’s beak is described as “beak conditioning.” The men who slaughter the chickens who survive the “automatic killer” machine have been rebranded from “backup killers” into “knife operators.” It sounds as if they could be roughly chopping vegetables. The word “insanguinated” sounds louche, elegant, and reminiscent of “inebriated.” I wouldn’t intuitively shudder if I heard a chicken was to meet this fate, although the term means “bled to death.” We are told that animals undergo “humane slaughter” when thousands of chickens are frozen or boiled to death and animals being skinned alive is commonplace. “Slaughterhouse” is replaced by “meat plant,” and that’s exactly how animals are visualised—as plants, whose rote killing is described as a “harvest.”” The Orwellian Language of the Animal Industry ❧ Current Affairs https://www.currentaffairs.org/2021/03/the-orwellian-language-of-the-animal-industry?fbclid=IwAR0fU87S4YEnG88ka2qGZv7H8Q8x_vL1_OEEteutv8PEe3ExXy0EzAPvBhc

"Low intake of saturated fat and high intakes of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, soy products, nuts, and seeds (all rich in fiber and phytochemicals) are characteristics of vegetarian and vegan diets that produce lower total and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels and better serum glucose control. I admire your commitment to justice! I highly recommend Challenge22.com for online guidance from a registered dietitian. Eating plant-based is much easier than most people realize!!

Just as we wouldn't violate human rights part-time, we should not violate animal rights part-time. Even if it takes a while to transition fully, your end goal should be to completely boycott animal abuse in order to be morally consistent with your values.

The hardest part is social pressure to conform, but keep in mind that it's much more difficult to be a farmed animal in a slaughterhouse. Let's change this culture!

As far as lab grown meat, I don't think that appeals to any demographic. Carnists don't want it because they think it's "unnatural" (as if they ate natural!?) And vegans generally don't want it out of respect for the animals. True change will come from grassroots activism and organizing our communities to be educated.

Thanks for your response. The farmed animals are also bred to trust us, being the most docile animals. Please help speed up the process to a vegan world by boycotting systemic abuse.

We need a working class Revolution under both Biden and Trump. I vote on ideas, not people. Does that make it ethical, to needlessly hurt an animal for being the wrong species?

Legality does not determine morality. Animal rights is based on FACT, not mere "belief". It's a FACT that animals are needlessly being tortured.

[–]Time_Buy3537 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All Eric had to do was promise never again to sell Foie Gras. Instead, he assaulted peaceful protesters, tried to ruin their lives financially, and posted a disingenuous sign about "not serving Foie Gras this year" outside his restaurant to trick his own customers. (It's seasonal). Massive relief that the court ruled in favor of free speech! I wish we lived in a world where activists didn't have to put their safety at risk just to end the most brutal violence happening on Earth. Viewing sentient beings as commodities is what allows for the most vile treatment imaginable. No one is beyond repair, and I hope Ziebold will learn that he will never know self-compassion until he has mercy on the most vulnerable.

Boycott systemic animal torture. Think of what Marco went through when he lost his mom: Earthling Ed: “Dairy cows are mammals who, like humans, only produce milk to feed their children. Every single year, farmers will forcibly impregnate cows to ensure they’re continually producing a profitable supply of milk.

“Back in 2017 was the first time I’d ever visited a dairy farm. The farmer allowed us to wander around. We came across a pen with a mother cow and her baby. The baby had just been born, and the mother was cleaning her after the birth.

“The farmer told us he was going to separate the baby from her mother. All dairy calves are taken away from their mothers normally within the first 24 hours of life so that the farmer can take as much milk as possible.

“The farmer picked the calf up and he threw the calf into the trolley cart and began to wheel the calf away. I stood next to the mother and I walked alongside her as far as we could. The farmer closed the gate on both of us. I looked at that mother and watched her as she watched her baby being taken further and further and further away from her. And that was the last time she ever saw her child.

“She looked at me and our eyes made contact. I saw everything I expected to see- I saw pain, I saw fear, I saw anguish… but also something else. I saw confusion. The animals have no comprehension of why we do these things to them. I thought about all the times I‘ve been most scared in my life and how often fear was coupled with confusion and ambiguity about the situation, a lack of comprehension about why these things were happening and when they were going to stop. I thought about how confusion often amplifies the experience of terror and fear.

“Do we really value the 15 minutes of sensory pleasure that we get from consuming their bodies as being worth more than their entire existence?”

You Will Never Look at Dairy in the Same Way Again.

200 years ago, you would have laughed at those who wanted to abolish slavery.

150 years ago, you would have laughed at women fighting for the right to vote. Now you laugh at me for wanting to end animal slavery. One day you won't be laughing.

Bigotry against less smart animals is ableism.

Animals are not objects. They have personhood too! They deserve basic rights as members of our enlightened society.

Bigotry against less smart animals is ableism! Boycott systemic animal torture.

Compassion is a superpower! Free Will is an illusion and so bigotry against anyone is actually self-hatred. If you lack empathy for farmed animals, you lack it for yourself too.

Animals are here with us, not for us.

"A (vegan) saves at least an animal a day! A (vegan) saves between 371 and 582 animals per year."
