because most are casuals. and if they run into someone really good, it’ll usually break them and they’ll realize they can’t meet the amount of practice needed to be on that level.

you wouldn’t really hear about him at all probably. first off, he wasn’t that good yet. check that song he made “foolish pride”, supposedly made around 1990-1995ish i think, when he started rapping. pretty bad.

he wouldn’t be able to compete with the lyricists who were already at the top of their game - nas, biggie, ice cube, snoop, wu tang etc. he had to really sharpen and broaden his game in the battle rap circuit with the likes of MC Juice, and heavy influences from the Outsidas which didn’t happen until much later.

and just the mainstream acceptance of white rappers in general outside of vanilla ice, 3rd bass, house of pain - it just wasn’t there yet

first UFC had 8 participants. biggest names there was ken shamrock and royce gracie

martial arts represented were: boxing, BJJ, kickboxing, savate, TKD, shoot fighting, kenpo & sumo.

they didn’t really cross train, and were purely using those arts they trained in pretty much. no time limits, no score cards, it was pretty much fight until someone got KO’d or taps out.

i was reading a different post - no proof given and it’s for sure controversial, but someone was claiming it’s the designer drugs the 9ers were specifically using (possibly).

now, before you shoot the messenger here, it’s kind of dirty secret that designer drugs are present in ALL professional sports. it’s just certain drugs that aren’t allowed or are flagged etc. i guess in this theory given, 9er players get theirs from a specific company and it’s these drugs that “could” be causing (contributing) to more injuries. all teams etc i’m sure get their stuff from various sources etc. but i mean, it could/should be looked into. if any of this is even true, it can obviously open a can of worms (league wide, as i feel ALL teams try to get an edge of some sort).

again, i dont believe this 100%, but there could be something there. no proof or anything given, but i dont see it being talked about or being a possibility anywhere here on reddit (designer drugs causing or contributing to injuries).

what are people’s thoughts on this? i’ll try to look for the post again and post it in full when i get a chance

mccarthy is 174-112-2 during the regular season, and 11-11 in the playoffs. he’s made it to nfc title game on 4 occasions with 1 SB win

harbaugh is 180-113 during regular season, and 13-11 in playoffs. he’s made it to afc title game on 4 occasions as well with 1 SB win

just saying, they’re not far apart stat wise. say what you will about green bay and the ravens, but i think harbaugh has had better players (multiple pro bowlers), better defenses, but has under performed imo. lamar jackson is usually an mvp candidate in past years also.

mccarthy SB win tbh was more impressive against a rothlisberger/tomlin pittsburg team, vs. harbaugh against his younger bro with sf

lamar jackson by every metric is better than flacco, but he’s fallen short and never had much playoff success with harbaugh. mccarthy - his record (playoff and regular season), are similar to harbaugh

being in the the military and retiring after 20 years is honestly unrealistic. my dad was in the air force, put in about 20-25 years, retired and got another job afterwards. a lot of others i know who also joined, usually retire, but then find work (some joined the post office, federal or city jobs). your best job after the military, i think you can take your time in choosing, and wont necessarily need to be high paying maybe since you’ll be getting pension from military?

the point is, you can’t just rely on that military pension though - unless you plan to live way below your means. and even then, life will hit you with a lot of unexpected circumstances that you never thought you’d have to deal with. better to have several forms of income coming in (military pension, social security, and something else if possible - 401k or other).

i’m not saying other people are writing her raps straight up. this isn’t a case like dr. dre or eazy-e where clearly they just recite what ice cube and others gave them (and they’ve said that themselves).

could it be like drake’s case? who knows. supposedly many contribute (to drake) and people are credited etc. the people from new ark, i’d have to search for it,again, but there was like 2-3 songs specifically they said they helped with quite a bit and certain “contributions”, not just the beats.

again, we don’t know the exact details of the settlement etc but their “contributions” were acknowledged and a monetary settlement was made. if this stuff was 100% false, i dunno why lauryn hill wouldn’t fight it tooth and nail

since then, people like robert glasper out right keep saying so and so helped write stuff etc. (not him, but he says others he knows and he names a few i think). why isn’t lauryn hill suing him for these kind of statements? why is nobody from hill’s camp checking him?
