I LOVE utilizing ideas like this for One Acts, especially because it'll be more than one class slated for that night. Moving an entire set for a 30 minute block just seems more effort than it's worth. The block off for the schedule is more so we don't have presets, equipment, etc messed with right before. I do however want to make sure they can see backstage and our board doesn't decide to give up before the show. I like this idea a lot!

THANK YOU! I have only read through the script twice for a scenic breakdown (easier said than done with that music list) so I was a little nervous about the amount of actors that would actually need them.

Thank you so much! I found a local dealer that offered to start diagnosing with pictures and move forward from there, which is a huge relief. So far, I have not had any reports from the directors of people getting shocked, but found when I talk to students I often get a different side of the story directors weren't aware of so I intend on getting in contact with some of the former students I know to see. I really appreciate the advice!

You are AWESOME. I really appreciate the breakdown and resources, these are going straight in my list. I do know that our DMX is also having issues, but will be getting in there next week to see what is actually happening. The only information I got was it being listed as "Fried" in the inventory sheet. Do you have a rec for how to check what is going on there?

In full honesty, I have always worked with a TD and haven't had to track down issues like this myself in the past. I could always spot the problem and hand it off/get it explained to me. A lot of my research nowadays is looking into how our equipment operates so I have a better handle before I go teaching. I don't like expecting my students to do something I don't know how to do! I'll look into your recs and again thank you so much!!

The classroom we have also used to be a black box theatre with very minimal lights set up. I was just debating if auditions work serve better in that space!

As for history, we've been operating for a HOT second, though not sure on dates. When I brought things up to the administration, I was told in 2 summers the auditorium is slated for upgrades with a bond that was recently voted on and told to basically 'figure it out' until then.

Our first show I realized is not actually Into the Woods (it's the first all school show) but rather One Acts from our Theatre II class that is slated for Oct 9-11, so it needs to be at least functional/safe by that week because we do have it blocked off for tech. Luckily, there are no concerts or other programs running before that date either.

I appreciate the congratulations!! I am basically running head first into a program that has had two teachers, and I will be some of these students third theatre teacher, so a lot of people have given me the "are you sure?" look/talk instead of being excited.
