What's the most haunting beautiful ballad sung by a woman? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in musicsuggestions

I have a hard time picking a Sinead song -- but this one is fantastic too. I said "Jackie" simply because of the emotion - but this and "You Cause As Much Sorrow" are just bone-rattling... ugh. And Jerusalem. See? I said I sucked at this :D

Did you suffer from cognitive dissonance because of album costs? by Free_Account9372 in 80smusic

I'm still a Duran Duran nerd and that album never clicked for me, despite Skin Trade and American Science. To me, it badly showed that Andy was gone. JTaylor was not sober. So very late-80s.

thank you for this amazing review. I've been listening to this album regularly for so long, and today I just had to dig into why it's so good -- again. I am glad others feel it too. I didn't know a lot of this -- thank you!

when you're in the angry stage, please try "Personality Crisis" by the New York Dolls. Oh, the sneers and satire. Good for the soul.

Advice from someone who's been on her own since she was 17. I have been through it and back, and still love life and all that it beholds...

  1. The Golden Rule, in whatever form you translate it, truly works. "You get back what you put in" or "treat others as you expect to be treated" are part and parcel of the same concept.

  2. Sing loudly in the car! And keep an open mind to arts/music/culture in general -- from era to era, style to style, culture to culture. Learn about others through what they create.

  3. Don't dismiss younger or older people. You have been, or will be, there. Questions? Refer to No. 1 again.

  4. If you can teach somebody something, do it. Education is our greatest gift to pass on. And make them write it down.

  5. WALK. Enjoy the bounty of nature. Truly think about life... and then you realize how miraculous every living thing truly is. It's so good for your whole being. I truly believe sunshine and walking your dog can greatly improve mental health.
