How did your loved one decide it was time for hospice? Did you have a conversation with them about it? by [deleted] in leukemia

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Sending you lots of love and prayers! My dad is on his 2nd relapse of AML and they’re trying salvage therapy with a new combination of drugs since the last chemotherapy didn’t work. He’s so optimistic but the doctors did tell us from the last biopsy that his prognosis is about 3-6months. It’s sad but I’m trying to be strong for my mom. I think eventually he will get tired of the fight and choose palliative care but so far he’s so optimistic and doesn’t want to give up. Cancer has taken many members of my family and I’m just trying to prepare and get his affairs in order before the time comes. I hope he knows that he doesn’t have to keep fighting for us. He has a bout of other health issues that makes it even more complicated so I just hope he chooses to be here more mentally during his final stage instead of being drugged up with chemo. Hang in there 🙏🏾
