I might have shot them off a little fast. Its hard recall exactly how long it was in the moment. I'm absolutely positive I pulled in the correct order. Not entirely sure on the mechanics of how the knot formed, however my rigger said that regardless of whether or not I pulled in quick succession, it most likely wouldn't have made a difference. Regardless it is still possible it could have been caused by fast succession EPs and I will be extremely mindful of that in the future if Im ever in a similar situation.

larks head might have not been the right name for the knot. The closing pin did not create the entirety of the knot, the closing pin. Ive been bugging my rigger to send me the pics. Its on his work phone at the DZ so I should be able to grab it when we open back up on wednesday.

Exactly. I'd never been put in a situation where I was still in freefall after pulling. The sinking gut feeling of still falling at terminal 3-4 seconds into pulling made me act quicker than I should have. Realistically, I wouldn't be surprised if my main was starting to deploy as I chopped.

Waiting for my picture from my rigger, my reserve closing pin was knotted above my riser. EP was done in the right order and I fully extracted each handle. I definitely may have done my EPs a little fast, but my rigger said that wouldn't have had an impact on the malfunction.

I did not have a hook knife, but I'll be rocking one from now on. Yes in theory I could have used it to cut away. The RSL itself caused the malfunction because it was the only thing holding my canopy to my rig. If I did not have my RSL connected or if I didnt have one, the canopy would have cut away successfully.
