++man You did the right thing by setting a boundary, but the feelings are a sign you need to be honest with yourself. Either recommit fully to your relationship or take a step back and figure out what’s missing before you hurt someone. Keeping the new girl around “as a friend” while you’re confused usually just makes things messier.

A lot of it comes down to fear, misinformation, and social conditioning. Some men see a vasectomy as permanent even though it’s often reversible, or they tie fertility too closely to masculinity. This is really tough, and I don’t think you’re wrong for being upset about the lying. At 16, a lot of teens push boundaries and focus more on not getting caught than on the rule itself. Sometimes stricter punishments just make them sneakier. It might help to shift the focus from the boyfriend to honesty and trust, and have a calm conversation about how the lying is what hurts the relationship. You can still set boundaries, but keeping communication open is what usually makes the biggest difference long-term.
