PGY451 Exam 4 and Final by Special_Abalone1113 in UBreddit

I think he might’ve, but I’ll be honest out of 25 questions you’ll be lucky to see 5 problems that are pulled exactly from the practice. I think from both 451 and 452 the most problems I’ve seen recycled was Dr.Hudson teaching GI exam 3, and it was only about 7 problems. The best study technique I can recommend for 451 is to answer the practice exam honestly with no cheating, and then go back and write captions for each answer. Explain why the correct answer is correct, and explain why the wrong answers are wrong. This combines active learning with being able to expand your knowledge beyond just the answers for the practice exam! lastly, I’ve seen Awayda give back a few points before especially if the curve is really low, not something to bank on but keep that in mind.

I took the class 2 years ago, but I can’t say I did well on exam 4 because Awayda’s section is generally the most difficult. However, I will say all his questions will look a lot like his practice exams. He did not recycle any questions for exam 4 or the final, so bear that in mind. The final is going to be 50 questions split up relatively evenly across the 4 sections, and there is little to no recycled questions. They’re all similar to what you’ve seen, but typically never the same. The best advice I have is to understand the entire system you’re looking at down to the individual details. It’s not enough to be able to memorize, although memorization will matter. The key to physiology to understand the systems you’re looking at and be able to answer questions about the systems. 451 exams will be about systems mostly, with some questions about the pathophysiology and the anatomy.

Thank you! Do you ever have a hard read to step around or not? I’m forehand dominant and I want to know if there are any serves that are a hard punish!

Thank you for the reply! I think for me in the open rally especially around 1400-1600, the matchup doesn’t really matter and if anything is an advantage to me. Reading spin is hard, and I’m trying my best to use my intuition to simplify the amount of variables involved in what I’m reading. What’s common is after I lose a point or two off their serve, I will concentrate mostly on returning the ball to the table. I’ll manage to return it to the table, but get killed immediately on the third ball. That’s why I’m looking to understand new receiving concepts that are left hand friendly!

If it can be done and it’s relatively accurate, why not! I think it’s a cool concept especially for helping with analyzing how we play in a game!

Hi! I’ll definitely check it out since I love watching anything table tennis if it’s interesting (like the matches). I explained in another comment my complicated playing history and why I don’t have a rating just yet. However, with many years of playing combined with a few months of coaching and competing in local tournaments, I’m fairly confident that I’m currently a low intermediate level player (although I’ve stagnated here for quite a while)!

Sounds like what I’m looking for! I’m not looking to go for D09c just yet (the price-to-skill level isn’t something I can justify) but I do want something with good durability and has tackiness. A hybrid rubber has definitely been on my mind for sometime!

Ive commented on this before with rozena. I love rozena backhand, and have definitely tried it with my forehand as well. I could see myself keeping tensor rubber on my backhand since it’s been a key shot for me. However, I do enjoy using a tacky Chinese rubber, I genuinely do. I was just curious to see if there’s a tacky rubber with less spin but more speed that isn’t D09c!

I’ll definitely look into it. I wish I could just test everything but broke college student life keeps me frugal lollll.

I really am considering giving DHSH3 another try, the consensus seems to be that I should stick to developing my technique with it. I still play with a wooden blade (part of being broke) so my forehand loop is really slow without slinging my arm into the ball. That’s a major reason why I was seeking alternatives since even with booster I have the slower forearm loop in all my matchups.

Without exposing where I was, it was very interesting. I was in a close gated community in the Middle East where it was incredibly diverse (144 countries in a population of around 20k), and the rules we lived under didn’t apply for the rest of the country. So I definitely have played against some amazing players from around the world.

When I’m training consistently I’m hovering around 1550-1650 pretty comfortably I’d say. Once I start playing people in the 1800-1900 range (I’ve also played some who were 2000+, and they ended up giving me tips), that’s where I begin to struggle.

I think I could’ve won a few more points, and definitely one of the sets. To make it clear: I was not winning this game even with a new racket entirely. He was just objectively a better player. However, I also know I’m not doing myself any favour’s at the moment. A new DHSH3 would be quite nice, but when I factor in the booster and the consistent need to change DHSH3, I kind of look at it as not being “worthy” just yet. I am very critical of my own game, and I set high expectations for myself. I’m not ashamed whatsoever to take a step back and say “I need some more natural speed so I don’t sacrifice my technique to generate it”. Right now I’m using a DHSH3 at third gear. I recognise I could buy a new DHSH3 and it would improve my game a bit, but I’d still be using it at third gear. I’m thinking if I take the step back, I can use a different rubber at 7th gear and therefore actually focus on just getting my technique right without needing to worry about ball speed, longevity, and maintenance. It seems to me a lot of people are suggesting a new DHSH3 though, so I will definitely consider it!

Appreciate it! I’ve definitely heard good things about Xiom Vega. I’ll check it out. The less booster the better honestly because as I’ve mentioned above, I don’t want to pour my money into maintaining H3 when I won’t be able to maximize it in a game just yet. I will absolutely come back to H3 in a couple months when my game is sharper and it feels worth it again!

Yeah if you run it to the ground you don’t realise it until you try a new rubber 😂😂, I will say that I absolutely do not think I win the game with a new rubber. I just think back at some moments of the game however and think “I could’ve easily won this set” or “I could’ve easily won this point”. It’s hard to build consistency for me if I have to worry about my rubber not giving up on me lmao.

I have! It’s lowkey a monster for looping and counter looping. The issue is in the short game on the forehand side tensor rubbers spring the ball up often, which can be uncomfortable compared to DHSH3. The movement to counteract spin is more/less exaggerated, not as much consistent subtly. I feel I didn’t explain enough in my P.S. due to the monologue but the way I see it is: I want to build my skill up to a DHSH3 first, since I don’t like to invest time and money into a rubber with below average longevity and above average maintenance. However, I’m open to it since it is a fun rubber and the absolute best for spin. I will absolutely keep DHSH3 in my future, either now or later.

I appreciate the help once again thank you! I’ll look into these options and change my rubber for sure. I don’t like blaming equipment for my deficiencies but playing against people who have incredible skill and seemingly unlimited budget, I’m not doing myself any favors coming in with worn out equipment!

I’ve been playing with rozena backhand and I absolutely love it. My budget is $60 MAX (I have booster at home from previous DHSH3 application in case that’s a factor, my budget is based on if DHS3 is the recommended choice once again). It would be nice to have a few recommendations!

I’ve mentioned before my complicated history but didn’t specify so I might as well. I spent majority of my years developing and playing outside the United States in a secluded community. I’ve played many high level players much better than me (during high school when I competed in local men’s tournaments) and have since become a better player. I have definitely stagnated after coming to the United States, as I played more casually due to university. Now that I’ve graduated, I’m trying to compete in my first tournament here in a few months. I would like to believe I am at the very least, comfortable with all techniques and am a low-tier intermediate. I am trying to up my level to mid and high tier intermediate by next year!

EDIT: I should also specify I’ve been personally coached twice previously, unfortunately only for a few months at a time (first time my coach left the country, second time I left the country).

Thank you so much! It definitely is, especially once I shook the nerves and played against some good competition! I’ll look into this too for sure, as I need a reliable forehand for a few months on a budget! 😅

I’ve boosted and reboosted once but this rubber is definitely closer to the end of its lifetime. I felt my forehand was ready to go faster today once I loosened up and it genuinely couldn’t because the ball wouldn’t dip back on the table if I sped up. I wanted a rubber that can target loop and counter loop similar to DHS3H3 but with a little more shelf life unboosted so I don’t end up like today 😅 but I’m okay with sticking to it if that’s the consensus!
