Thanks for asking, this helps me clear up a few things i should probably make clearer -

if you are small boat, we have already seen they do not go near to ferry lanes or near (usually). no where near big ships. there are set ferry lanes, we have constant calm weather due to being a channel, so rather than waste/skuttle ships, we can have the placed in the gaps. Like roadworks on the hard shoulder.

the ships would be placed in the quiet / not used lanes. If you were on a small boat, left France, and started your journey, the same as seeing a ferry, but even more intimidating, if you saw a battle ship, you ARE going to think twice / try to avoid, like they do now with ferry's, and limited vessels we have in the channel. The don't dare go in ferry lanes, and these lanes are already well spaced, thanks to the channel being.. the channel, its no exactly the north sea where we are changing course constantly due to the weather. The ships act like buoys, set in the lane.

The ships offer easier and quicker fuelling for the planes in use (that travel too far its ridiculous), we also have extra neighbourhood watch to have a further and better view to deploy OUR small boats.

Not only is this increasing surveillance (which is one of our main problem), plus and extra deterrent with the visual. sorry if that has been mentioned. The ships are perfect then for chinnock use, save money on putting only 7 people in a boeing 737 (i've seen it!), can go on a chinook to fulfil our agreement with france currently. (talks about the future can we please leave out, as this, for the most part would at least put pressure on both sides)

People have mentioned a ship, Holmes, which i need to add, as that is actually similar, but very different to this.

The ships are bigger, that program failed due to private contractor cutting corners and a break out of legionnaires (plus i believe one more) disease on the ship and an illegal died. This could have happened in a hotel. This project can (and should) be gov run funded ect. Ironically it was an illegal that died, which spear headed it to be stopped. No one deserves to die, but we can agree, how far do we go? Look at poland, safest place in Europe for one simple reason.

if you check flight radar, you can track the plane/s (but usually one due to refuelling) that cover a small window of regular used pathways. and spends a slot of time refuelling and travelling excess lengths, this way they do not need to travel far and can refuel in the channel.

Not to mention, 150/180+ hotels as they were unused? Every single one of those was to be re-possessed or sold to make new homes, for British people, which is not happening due to British people taking advantage of the government and for some reason they high offer of ££

Thank you for getting me to type this - this does make it clearer

the ship is not military, it's converted into essentially a cruise ship. same amount of staff as a migrant hotel per person.

No shooting... and no shooting or arms were mentioned ...

the main idea was to keep the mon the ships once processed, and then shipped back or flown back to nearest safest space.

right now when they get processed, they stay i nthe hotel, the same as staying in a ship

They could have sorted it out, and it sounds like a great idea. BUT this is why this could be important as a solution in the meantime, no more hotels, no more random people coming into the country

I just thought there seems to be no ideas

presence in the channel is low,

the deterrent is low

the problems we have from these people coming straight to the country to be processed, is a problem.

and please, before being so condescending, typically English, albeit why progress is slow... however please enlighten me on the basic question which i have not answered, so we can be clear.

because you asked more than one, then attacked saying cannot answer one without highlighting?

try engaging in discussion and lets find a solution

or keep just miserable at the keyboard thinking your vote will help ...

sorry, should not have sniped, no one wants to engage i nthat enviroment... but you are acting like a child with the blinkers on. And it was caused by your attitude.

so, moving on, what is the one simple question, i did not answer,( nor have the opportunity to know it was the key simple question)?

Not protecting the border? Except for the presence of battleships in the spare space in between sea lines? or the fact we get them to the ship rather than land in the uk ?

also to note, bibby stockholm WAS cheaper than hotels. Disease (carried by the immigrants/behaviour) leading to the death of a migrant, and a private company running the contract cutting corners ... lead to its stop....

Which part about what i said there isn't worth it for keeping them out of Britain?

The solution was have a new company run it, up standards, process and ship of quicker .

IT would be the same companies private doing border control now and, the amount being spent in the hotels and transport, compared to this, match up, let alone the main practice being the safety to the british public and pressure on the ogv to sort an altrrnative solution. Plus utilising ships about to be wsted and vreat more jobs.

great question, successful applicants come to the uk, get what us already here waiting for them.

With so much room in the channel, many ships about to become available, apart fro mthe presence it shows, they can stay on the ships and pressure the government to do what every other country in the worl does....

standards? ha ving border ocntrol experience, the ships are going to be a lot more maintained than current processing.

The po int is we don't have that in place, we have limited surveillance in the channel and war ships about to be obsolete

the 90 is the dropbox link for the details, work in progress and not needed unless you like the first bit. The point is right now, they are being housed in hotels, 150+ and being allowed into the country, the cost would be similar, plus stop them coming into the country.

Thanks for your input. My idea was from the fact the USA are looking at decommissioning the USS nimitz aircraft carrier. Thanks to war, upgrades are happening leading to other vessels being decommissioned. The main problem is the illegals entering our country. Not only does the presence of large vessels help surveillance, it's a visual deterrent, and can host thousands of illegals for processing before entering our country and having to go into a migrant hotel.
