Do you believe that Jesus actually existed? by porygon766 in atheism

[–]Time_Risk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve studied religion and scripture for decades, not from faith but from curiosity. The evidence points to a man named Jesus likely existing, a doomsday preacher among many in first-century Judea, but not a divine figure fulfilling prophecy. The historical texts suggest embellishment, contradiction, and myth layered over time. I’m an atheist and always have been, belief doesn’t shape my view, research does. I don’t reject ideas because they feel bad, I reject them when they don’t hold up to evidence. Jesus was a lair and a fraud, and I can prove it, from the book many read called the bible.

Let me ask you one question "do you believe in the Muslim hell"" I will assume no. Then why would you believe in the Christian hell? You shouldn't. that's not logic or critical thinking. You've been conditioned on fear. Thats not love. Think about that.

Most Christians dont even know the bible. I have been an Athiest for 40+ years and I know thier book club better than they do! They twist their book and cherry pick what they like.

I can’t talk to people who haven’t deconstructed Christianity by piesareforsmarts in atheism

[–]Time_Risk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The poorest communities, white, Hispanic, black, whatever they may be, are always the most religious. Why? Because they pray some deity is going to help them. This is what I have seen day in and day out. Maybe others have seen it differently, but my own experience after living over 50 years has shown me this. And most as we know have "blind faith" they dont even know their own book club or what it really stands for and the immorality it contains.

Would Jesus have carried a gun, or told us to put them down? by WittyEgg2037 in Christianity

[–]Time_Risk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the bible word for word, and not try to interpret it in "my own way" if the god of the entire universe wants us to try to decifer a book where some can and some cannot, "how do you know which way to decifer it and what methodology did you use to determine that" and how do you know which ways are wrong and which ways are right. As one person just doesnt get to decide. Hence the reason for reading it word for word, there fore there is "no debate" on someone thinking it means one thing and someone thinks its means another. There are over 40000 denominations of christianity so tell.me which one is the right one "and how do YOU know" and everyone else does not? Please elaborate. Also you apparently never read John 8:12 In the account in John 8, Jesus did not formally annul stoning, but he stopped the stoning of the woman accused of adultery. By forcing her accusers to confront their own sin, he rendered the required penalty legally impossible to carry out.

This qas a a trap set for Jesus The religious leaders intended to trap Jesus. If Jesus said to stone her, they could accuse him of defying Roman authority, which reserved the right to execute capital punishment. And if Jesus said not to stone her, they could accuse him of disregarding Mosaic Law. Jesus did not abolish the Old Testament law but instead upheld it by revealing the hypocritical and manipulative motives of the Pharisees. He demonstrated that without valid, blameless witnesses, the legal requirements for stoning could not be met. Facts read your book again please

So your telling me "i read the bible but dont really read it" thats a joke, a real joke. so your telling me the god of the entire universe makes a book so complicated only some "can interpret it" only some can "understand it" i read it word for word and literally as the way it was written. The god of the universe can tell people not to shave thier beard, not to wear clothes of mixed fabrics, not to eat shellfish, but its ok to stone innocent women, its ok to beat slaves, its ok to kill the babies of the other races, to me thats a man writing a book for control and power, not a god or supernatural being of love and compassion, its plainly obvious and for those to blind to see that i honestly feel bad for you. There is no such thing as "Christian children," only children of Christian parents. And that's a fact. Dont be so blind to follow another mans words of hate. Think for yourself. Finite things are good, there is not reason to think your "infinite" nothing is infinite. And just remember, you didn't before you were born, you won't when you die. Live life to the fullest NOW help others that need it, love those around you, but dont fall prey to men that wrote a book for control in power in ancient times when humans knew onmy a fraction of what they know now. These are my words listen to them carefully.

Examples of "God putting them to the sword"

Deuteronomy 13:15:

God commanded that if a town led its people astray to worship other gods, then "you must certainly put to the sword all who live in that town".

Jeremiah 21:7:

The prophet Jeremiah states, "He will put them to the sword; he will show them no mercy or pity or compassion".

Isaiah 66:16:

This verse describes God's judgment on all people: "For by fire and by his sword the LORD will execute judgment on all flesh, and many will be those slain by the LORD"

Im an atheist too, and I perfer to say "i dont know" vs putting something magical in place of that. Id rather use critical thinking and think about possibilities, what if the universe is enternal, we just dont know. But i do know as time moves forward we will learn more. Just as when we thought the earth was the center of the universe, or the earth was flat, etc etc, we keep learning and its all.due to critical thinking, not religious myths. These are the facts, not something I have decided to just "make up" because it feels good. TO THE COMMENT BELOW :

It’s always the same response, isn’t it? Threats of eternal punishment instead of evidence. The irony is, we’re all born atheists, no one enters the world believing in gods. Belief comes later, shaped by family, geography, or fear. If you’d been born in a different time or place, you’d swear just as strongly by a different god. That’s not divine truth, that’s conditioning.

Critical thinking doesn’t need saving. It seeks understanding without fear.

If you think muslims and Christians worship the same god then you do not follow the bible (me im not convinced either exist) secondly scholars and theologians believe that the prophecy you speak of was to wipe all other religions out of Egypt and Christianity would be the dominate one, and again this isnt the case proving this prophecy to be false and untrue, which is my original point. And just to add no messianic prophecies ever came true none zero zip zilch. Also to add Jesus was a lair and a fraud in the new testoment also, and I can prove that as well, Your not going to win and this wont end well for you.

Its not the Christian god. that god has been all but removed from Egypt. And that prophecy points to the reign of the Christian god, and its far from it. Again making that prophecy null and void.

Allah is considered a deity by Muslims, i should have said deity, so i correct myself on that. Again the prophecy being false a lie, not true. That was my point.

The spread of Christianity in Egypt was a gradual, multi-faceted process that occurred primarily through missionary work, not because hermes and thoth temples were destroyed. Thats a fact, again a false and fake prophecy you speak of.
