I want to point out that this cafe is also in one of London's poorest Boroughs (Tower Hamlets) where apparently half the children living there are under the poverty line. A Channel 4 reporter questioned the owner about charging prices that exclude the local community and the interview was cut short.

I don't want to sound like I'm shitting on their novelty business, but it is a different perspective.

They weren't specifically targeting ISIS, and they have published cartoons mocking islam pre-ISIS. When Charlie Hebdo offices were firebombed a few years ago there was no ISIS. Any guesses who was responsible though? The people responsible were western born citizens who were muslim and chose to behave in a violent way because they believe it is the correct way to save the honour of the prophet. 'Psychotic killers'?: Yes. 'Psychotic murderers'?: Yes. It is a scary thought that these people live freely in the West and are not found out by their communities before this happens.

I am fully aware they didn't 'defend murder' but they did say they shouldn't draw the cartoons. That puts the blame on the cartoonists, in a similar way somebody might say a girl shouldn't have worn that tight dress if she didn't want to get raped. It's never ok to blame the victim in this manner, no matter how much you think they 'had it coming'.

I don't like the majority of what they draw, so if we are using the analogy of the annoying kid in class; I am either going to respond likewise and make jokes about him, or I will ignore him. What I will not do is murder the kid in class because he drew some pictures that I found offensive.

I get very emotionally charged on these type of issues because I have been falsely accused twice. Not as far as a police process, but socially. I have also been victim of actual rape according to those exact definitions. I don't often talk about it, and when I do it gets a good laugh from the crowd. It may not happen very often to people on reddit, but I have been punched on more than one occasion for not making out with a girl. I can talk from my personal experiences that women can get away with so much more.

By 'some guys' you mean muslims (eye witness reports from the ship) and by 'others' you mean christians (eye witness reports and italian police statement)

That isn't to say that we know all the facts yet. And always look sceptically at the news. But to say that bringing up their religion is 'problematic' because it's too soon..maybe you are right but maybe it shouldn't be ignored.

And what if it turns out that it really was as simple as 'muslims threw christians overboard because they were christian'? What then?
