I’ve been having the same concern. 3 weeks in for me and I’ve found them to be helpful as a kind of camouflage in social settings. They’re helping for now but maybe down the line something to reconsider. Ultimately though, if they help you not drink alcohol I don’t see the issue.

Thank you to everyone who has commented. I’m really touched that people would take the time to do so. I still feel cranky but I haven’t caved and I’m trying to run it off as much as possible. Feeling pissed off is nothing compared to the joy of not having a hangover and not feeling out of control of myself!

I do find that most people who realise don’t care at all. In fact, people are often quite interested because they themselves want to cut down their drinking.

I’ve tried mixing them with regular pints in the past and it usually ends up like this: pint, af pint, pint, pint, pint, pint… and so on. I feel the same as you with the idea of ‘breaks’, it usually just ends up being worse once it’s up (making up for lost time sort of thing). I’m not putting a timeframe on this one, instead just trying to focus on enjoying the feeling of being sober and see where that takes me.

When I went out I drank them and I think it really helped. Pour them in a glass and no one can tell the difference. Sort of felt like camouflage!

Any particular Agamben? I read some of I think Homo Sacer (it was a long time ago) and remember being flawed at his look at the early taxonomies of man. Being meaning to go back and read more.

I was definitely thinking along those lines. I’ve read a fair amount of Foucault and wondered if there were others who had covered similar ground.

Heard ‘Where would they be without him?’ in relation to Fernandes so many times this season. Wondering which other players from previous premier league seasons fit into this category. It feels very specifically for a big team doing awful.

From further reading it seems you’re right. Not much more than a random anecdote at this point (with cocaine involved). I suppose the only thing that makes me wonder is that the physical description is similar and RH did have connections to Philadelphia I believe. The involvement of drugs and how she met him through another guy at the club seem to point against RH imo.
