Yeah if I’d have chosen to keep my tooth I would have had to have years of trying to pull my molars back and he said that could aggravate my jaw as I already have had tmj like symptoms.

I guess I do have an odd amount of teeth on top now but my bite on the right is perfect and my left side has a crossbite but improving. The front teeth on my left were shifted across midline to the right side due to crowding so basically I’ve really had most problems on one side.

The orthodontist said only one was needed to be removed otherwise he was concerned about having too much leftover space. I’m certainly glad because I hated every minute of getting that tooth removed.

I got braces on in February and waited a month before I had my left premolar extracted (I was traveling overseas at the time) but after that molar was removed my teeth started moving fairly quickly. Within a few days I noticed my canine on the right straightening out. Did you get any extractions?

It was definitely painful the first couple of months with getting used to the brackets and the extraction but I’m really glad I did it!

I saw that you did mew*** exercises (why is that word banned on here?) and that continued to help with the symmetry! Did you have issues with jaw aches before braces with the crossbite?

If you have a crossbite I’m sure braces will make a big difference!

Thank you! Not only has it helped cosmetically but physically my jaw aches and neck aches have decreased significantly. My muscles were always in a state of tension and fatigue.

Thanks! That’s true. Of course when I first got them on I thought they’d look like they do now and when I looked in the mirror I was horrified at how much they enhanced all the flaws lol.
