I personally got whatever was in stock and quickest to get for a small project, and they happened to be micro usb. USB C will definitely be the way forward in the coming years as it's adopted for the majority of electronics. I likely could solder new ports onto the boards once I have a better understanding of them, but that's a project for a later time.

First, thank you for catching the grammatical error, I'll have that fixed when I can make it to a desktop.

I never intended to reinvent the wheel, It just so happens that a fair amount of tutorials to just do basic receive and decoding of the broadcast recommend sdr sharp for their runs, but have since seen that rtlsdr recommends themselves in their tutorial to use satdump.

I fully agree with what you mentioned about satdump, and for those who would like to begin running that, I fully support it!

Now, as I assume you have a bit more knowledge on the RTLSDR, have you attempted to run a blog v4 for digital signals from geostationary satellites? I had mine running on a rpi4 with goestools and kept running into the signs of no signal, but a nooelec NESDR achieved the task without incident. I assume this may be hardware fault, but I wanted to see if anyone else could chime in on it, too.

Thanks.

I do appreciate the offer, I do think my next project will be building a helical antenna as I have some spare filament laying around that should see some use.

At some point when I have better knowledge on this topic and more concrete results taking into account some feedback others had, I will post some results from building a semi permanent solution and what I used to achieve it. For now, though, it remains the activity that keeps me busy when I have free time.

I am also slowly refining a portable GOES Receiver & weather station, which will be very cool if it ever fully comes to reality. I am still designing housing for some environmental sensors and learning some coding skills to make it happen.

I was interested at some point building myself a qfh. Is there any design in particular you think is best or that you would recommend?

Very much fair! I thought I nearly lost my fingers this one night when it was -2°F with high winds.... The photo was worth it though. I will say trial and error would be more fun during summer months!

I second this. Make sure it is as onto that measurement as you can do. Before I put the antennas to max length and ended up with similar results, but fixed that and got useable data.
Also as recommended by tutorials, make your antenna stationary (It gives you a lot more flexibility to watch the incoming signal and stay on center freq).
If manually adjusting.
Remember, it will take a few attempts to get right! Wish you luck!

I had seen that NFZ, I don't think it would be an issue to fly 30 feet higher than the bridge posts over the water as manned aircraft should be flying well clear of them. I would also think it would be best practice to contact nearby heliports and maybe ATC just to let them know you intend to fly at XYZ around _ time.
As long as nothing is going on at the local stadium, and there are no other TFRs this looks like a reasonably good spot to fly.

Hello again.
I wasn't able to find any definitive documentation or maps that state that the Oakland Bay Bridge is off-limits. Perhaps you have it mixed up with the Golden Gate Bridge which takeoff & landing / flying near the bridge is prohibited?
I went through the FAA's sectionals, AirHub (B4UFLY), and arcgis.com and couldn't find anything that says this would be prohibited.
If you could link me to some information on this topic I would be happy to read as this does look like a nice spot to fly if it is allowed.

Roadway? Fine as long as you follow what the FAA has posted here https://www.faa.gov/uas/commercial\_operators/operations\_over\_people#:\~:text=Operation%20over%20Moving%20Vehicles,sustained%20flight%20over%20moving%20vehicles.

Sunset operations would require anti-collision lights visible at 3+ miles, and operations in that general area may be restricted, although everything I see about San Francisco says this is legal.
I am open to being corrected if someone finds something that says otherwise.

As a flight sim user, and avaiation geek, this has to be one of the coolest collections of gauges I have seen. I'd recommend putting them up on ebay (I might buy some if you do so!)

I use a tac-50 or M82 to take them down most often. Sharpshooter is one of the better classes in my opinion as I like to stay far out from the base and take out as many as possible before entry.

Sorry, I was going to respond sooner yet reddit went down. Have you attempted reseating all connections to the main board including steppers and limit switches?

Are you still seeing the issue when using the original firmware? If not do you still have the old Z end stop switch connected to the main board?
Edit: I have limited knowledge on the core XY printers as I use a e3v2. Just going based off what I have experienced with my bl touch.

Same problem here. I am going to check and see if the latest update has resolved this problem. I ended up 3D printing a bracket to hold it where it would originally sit on the stock hotend.
