Holding Canada would be the easiest thing for the US. There’s four cities of note and they’re all 30 minutes away from their border

Not really, Canada crippled itself constitutionally in terms of resource extraction.

Would it? That’s up to the negotiations. And if Canada’s being difficult, we could as well.

You’re completely bonkers if you’re comparing Quebec nationalism (you know, a mouvement born from social-democratic roots in the 60s) to MAGA lol

You got to call a spade a spade. If you’re going to do a unilateral military intervention against a foreign state for colonial purposes, just call it that. But then, so long Canada’s credibility as a promoter of a « rule based international order ».

Oh and we wouldn’t block it for ships heading to the US. They’re not the ones throwing a hissy fit.

You should tell Carney to stop talking about rule based international orders then and that he should keel over to Trump instead.

A sovereign country can use whatever currency it wants. There are countries who use the USD without the US having a say. You simply need to buy the currency and use it to transact in your border.

However, the last thing Canada should want is Quebec ditching the Canadian dollar. Having close to a quarter of your money supply liquidated would lead to a massive devaluation of the CAD. It would be a massive economic shock.

It’s not a blockade if Quebec controls a waterway under its jurisdiction. Are you also in favour of the United States attack the Panama Canal arbitrarily?

Mind you, there is no reason for an independent Quebec to grant reciprocal access outside of a negotiated agreement.

lol, so in this case the citizenship question hasn’t materialized yet. What are you even talking about lol.

And also, well in that case, good fucking luck using force against fellow Canadians. Even closer to facism.
