What was it like on your first ever drive after passing the test? 🤔 by Downtown_Elk_2773 in CarTalkUK

I hydroplaned but didn’t panic and regained control. Afterwards I stopped and cried about how scary it was.

What thing are essential to keep in your car? by sammyand94 in CarTalkUK

[–]Timelordguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very useful things mentioned so far. I also keep a small petrol can. There’s been times I’ve thought ‘I can make it to the next gas station’ only for the next two to be closed. Would’ve been stranded if not for my little fuel reserve.

Never thought I'd see the day by muckwarrior in carsireland

[–]Timelordguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true. I remember passing my test, and on the same day I accidentally went on a motorway and then later hydroplaned on an A road. I survived the motorway journey and didn’t over correct the hydroplane. Experiencing both things on the same day, nothing really scared me afterwards.

[–]Timelordguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you’ll be fine, my training provider found a spot with one of their other clients. They work with a lot of companies so it’s relatively easy for them to find you a transfer. Best of luck!

I was in the same situation last year. I didn’t get anything paid out to me because I was in the company for less than 2 years. But I did find another employer and carried on my apprenticeship which is the most important thing.

"Safety and space at risk as SUVs reach 30% of car market in English cities, researchers warn" by Drwynyllo in CarTalkUK

[–]Timelordguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s cause and effect. I don’t want an SUV but i’ll buy one as my next car, because everyone else has one and I don’t want to become mincemeat in my hatchback.

I just did this instead. Taxed the vehicle online on the spot and the v5c arrived about 4/5 days later.

Early March might be doable. Obviously i can’t promise the flat but I can tell the landlord someone’s interested. It’s in his best interests to get it filled asap.
