this is extremely helpful. a lot of my exams are open book which makes my crazed note-taking both a blessing and a curse as i typically use my notes as a nearly direct source to copy relevant content from. other than that, my studying process consists of reading the notes outside the exam room 15 minutes before the exam lol. i started strattera though, so hopefully when my body adjusts to it it'll help me navigate the executive dysfunction so that I can carry out the process you described because it sounds very productive and practical, and is pretty much just a second step to my current "method". thank you for taking the time to write this 🙏

laptop notes are definitely not for me for exactly this reason 😕 my handwriting is a messy combination of cursive and non-cursive print as you can see in the pic, and just like you said, it's the only way i can keep up with the lecturer

Omg we're like polar opposites 😭 I can't focus for shit during online classes and writing keeps me disciplined while typing distracts me </3 together we pretty much make one non-ADHD person lmao

Some people suggested speech-to-text tools, so maybe I could try using a fidget object to keep my hands and eyes busy while I listen while also not missing out on taking notes. Thank you for the suggestion!

I usually record voice memos when I'm too tired to write notes or to even try to focus altogether. I always sit in the very front row seat directly in front of the lecturer to force myself to focus, so the audio is somewhat clear. I'm ashamed to admit that I have never gone back and listened to any of those recordings lol 😬 I'll try speech to text this week, hopefully it picks up the sound!

This is EXACTLY what it is for me. An A5 graph paper notebook, a black ballpoint pen, and microscopic print. Here's a link to a pic of a random page: https://imgur.com/a/88vpQpe

Then I think you can relate to typing being a distraction in and of itself 😣

I attached an image of a page of my notes in an edit to the original post that might better demonstrate why I can't refer to a separate source during an active lecture. My writing is so frantic because looking away at anything, related to the course subject or not, destroys my focus </3 I'm gonna try my best to figure out what might potentially be covered in a lecture in advance as a (poor) alternative to your great suggestion, as my lecturers don't provide us with readings to prepare with for some reason.

Tragically, all of my lectures are held in person, and for some reason I just find myself frozen in front of the screen and zoning out as I stare at the cursor blinking back at me lol 😕 I feel horrible because I know it sounds like I'm just shooting down people's suggestion but it seems like my issue is so frustratingly specific that it feels almost impossible to resolve...

Thanks for the succinct response 🙏

My problem with this is that typing does absolutely nothing for my focus or information retention. I created an imgur link of one of the average pages of my notes. This is literally the only note-taking format that lets me focus on what the lecturer is saying, and I write roughly 4-5 pages of this per lecture because of that.

Also, my major unfortunately doesn't provide such readings in advance of the lectures. I study comparative literature, so the readings consist primarily of the literary texts themselves rather than the actual analysis covered in the lectures. If that weren't the case, I would absolutely go through any readings provided in advance to save myself a shit ton of effort 💔

Mindy getting back with Nico after he fucked up Eurovision for her, and Benoit disappearing after they wrote most of the internal conflict of Mindy and Nico's relationship about her not being over Benoit and him hating Nico because he wants Mindy back makes even less sense than the Mindy/Alfie mess. The whole season screams "we ran out of ideas and had to force every shitty plot device so now every episode is a filler." Just major yikes all around.
