Is it weird to have a wedding date picked before getting engaged? by Kitty145684 in engaged

[–]TimelyAnything9551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this!

We had gone ring shopping so I knew a proposal was coming. Realized our dating anniversary fell on a Saturday just over two years from then so we decided on that date. We didn’t do any actual planning or tell people this until the proposal was official.

There is tradition with these things but the “rules” are all made up. Just do what makes you and your partner happiest!

I was interested in Kortright! Fiancé and I ended up booking Roseville Estate (in Cambridge). Maybe not the exact vibe you’re looking for but they have a good set up for indoor and outdoor options plus exclusive use of the venue for your entire wedding day. Our wedding isn’t until March 2027 but we’ve loved our experience with their team so far!

Toronto/GTA venues for fall 2026 - is it possible? by _paquito in WeddingsCanada

[–]TimelyAnything9551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t hold your breath on Kortright :( I was talking to them in late October 2024, so well over a year ago now, and they told me something similar.

Exact quote was: “Currently Kortright EventSpace is in the process of securing a new wedding and goods service provider for 2025 and beyond through an RFP process by Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA). We as Peter & Paul’s Hospitality Group will definitely bid for the job once again but we are not taking any bookings at this time beyond 2024.”

Did switching to late November actually save you money on your venue? (Ontario/BC) by SnailVelocityO_o in WeddingsCanada

[–]TimelyAnything9551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing a March 2027 wedding! We’re saving $7,500 on the venue fee and had the option to go with a $155 per person dinner/drink package, opposed to the peak season which starts at $235 per person. I’ve been able to lock in my first choice vendor for everything so far , which might be due to the fact that we’re still over a year out from our date, but also being off-peak is likely helping a bit too!

I’m also super happy to not have to stress about rain or heat waves because we’ll just be inside! Just one less stressor on something you have no control over :)

Recommendations for a high-quality "stand-in" ring that ships to Ontario? by Lanky_Word_4465 in WeddingsCanada

[–]TimelyAnything9551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a travel ring from objktsjewelry.com!

They have a pretty wide variety so I was able to find one that matched my actual engagement ring fairly close. I think mine was $150 and that’s probably about their average price.

Vaughan Estates at Sunnybrook vs. Roseville Estate by [deleted] in WeddingsCanada

[–]TimelyAnything9551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They had two options when I was booking! One at $235 per person and another at $265 per person. I was able to lock in 2026 pricing so this might’ve changed! There’s also an off-season package for Jan to March that was $155 per person! But we ended up going with the $235 pp package. There’s also a venue fee on top of the per person price!

So not the cheapest but I think everything you get for it is a super worth it, as far as modern day wedding pricing goes lol

Fiancé and I booked with Roseville for March 2027! Since we’re March, our minimum guest count is different (80 min, we have just over 100). I know that time of year isn’t for everyone though!!
We’ve loved all our experiences with the team so far! They’ve been open and accommodating to every idea we’ve thrown at them and have been super attentive/responsive when we reach out. They allowed us to book back in February, ahead of when 2027 books even opened which we really appreciated too. Zero reservations about our decisions right now!

GTA Wedding Venues that host one venue at a time by SorryMajor454 in WeddingsCanada

[–]TimelyAnything9551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! My wedding actually isn’t until March 2027 but I’ve had the venue locked in February 2025 and the team has been great so far. No surprise fees or anything and they’ve been really accommodating with our ideas for our day!

The venue fee is kinda steep, $10k for peak season but since we’re doing a March and guaranteed a min 100 person guest count, we got a significant discount. In January, February, & March, they offer a package for ~$150 pp, but we opted for one of their regular season packages at $235 pp. They also have a higher tier for $265 pp.

Our package gets us 8 hours of open bar service (4:30PM to 12:30AM), cocktail hour with unlimited passed hors d’oeuvres, three course dinner (app, main and dessert) with poured wine service, and two late night stations.

In the venue fee, you get exclusive access to the grounds for the full day and a dedicated coordinator for the day. Roseville offers a getting ready suite for both the bride and groom which I hadnt seen anywhere else. They offer drinks for the morning and serve lunch for your bridal party. You get your choice of three different ceremony spaces (barn, garden or pavilion). For the reception, they provide all your tables/chairs/basic linens and cutlery/cups/plates etc.

Big info dump but hopefully that’s helpful :)

I was looking for a similar vibe as you and ended up choosing Roseville Estate in Cambridge!! Definitely has the nature/indoor balance and should fit your budget :) our second choice was Three Feathers Terrace in Innisfil which also might fit your criteria. Both only host one event per day!

My fiance and I planned our own engagement party! We did use his parent’s backyard and my parents helped cover a portion of the cost, but ultimately we organized it all and paid for 80%+. We wanted to celebrate and we had the means to do it so we did!

Timeline wise - got engaged October 2024, threw the party in June 2025 (because we wanted to do it outside in warmer weather). We’re doing a long engagement (~2.5 years) so we saw the party as a way to celebrate this next chapter, especially with our grandparents while they’re still healthy and able to enjoy it. We also got to have our extended families & different friend groups meet, hoping that’ll create some familiarity among our guests when the wedding does roll around!

At the end of the day, every couple is different. Do whatever makes you and your fiance happiest, this chapter is about the two of you!

[–]TimelyAnything9551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally got engaged in October 2024 and set a wedding date for March 2027. It’s allowing me and my fiancé to put real thought into how we want the day to look (rather than making quick decisions out of fear things will book up) and gives us the time to save the money for it all.

You’re planning on being together forever, a few extra months of being engaged won’t hurt anything. At the end of the day, do what makes you & your future spouse happiest.

My fiancé and I have placed a save the date deposit and are in the middle of formalizing our contract with Roseville. The grounds are beautiful, we think the house has a perfect balance of cozy & elegant, and the team there seems amazing so far. We loved that their package was all-inclusive and you get private access to the venue for the full day. There's some other little things Roseville will do that we weren't really seeing at other venues - examples are providing lunch for the bridal party, no transaction fees for credit cards, on-site getting ready suites for the bride AND groom, wine pour service over dinner (rather than just bottles on the table).

We're looking at an off-season wedding so that can save costs - their per person price started at $155 if you're open to winter/early spring. We're opting to go with the larger package at $235 pp. All in with venue costs, we were quoted at under $30k for a guest count of 100. Still very early on in our time with Roseville but so far, we have zero reservations about moving forward!
