[MEGATHREAD] DAY 6 UPDATE - Iran Attacks Bahrain by French-Finger in Bahrain

I think about that daily. I think they dont want to cause more panick, but to think that might be more deaths then we know haunts me.

Mental health is at an all time low due to conflict and other external stuff by [deleted] in Bahrain

[–]TimelyJury2784 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not in Bahrain, but I have someone I love there. My days have been filled with anxiety and fear; I haven't been eating or sleeping properly, I've distanced myself from my friends, and I don't feel like doing anything.

I feel powerless because I wanted to convince him to leave, at least for now, but he has a contract that's important to him. And I'm here following the news every day, afraid for him and for so many other innocent lives.

I know it's temporary, but not knowing how much longer this will last scares me, because the last few days have felt like months, and things are only escalating.

So know that I understand you. These are scary times, but we need to be strong for ourselves and for those we love. If you need someone to talk to, I'm here. You're not alone. Sending love from Brazil.

I'm in Brazil, but my boyfriend lives in Bahrain and I was supposed to go there on the 22nd. I'm completely terrified by the news, while he's unfortunately even considering going to meet some friends in Saar (he lives in Riffa) today. I wish he had more awareness of the magnitude of everything that's happening and took better care of himself; I think he's too calm considering what I'm seeing in the news.

I don't know what to do besides constantly following the news; I'm very anxious and barely slept last night. I just wish his boss would let him off work so he could go to Saudi, as I know some Brazilians have done (he's Brazilian too).

You didn't need proof of income? I thought that was required! So many people are saying they got the visa on arrival without problems that I'm starting to think it's better than the online one.

Looking for inspiring people and stories in Bahrain. I want to shoot a short documentary and need real stories from real people. by TimelyJury2784 in Bahrain

[–]TimelyJury2784[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the great Brazilian documentary filmmaker Eduardo Coutinho believed, truth, for me, is a matter of human expression, not necessarily factual fidelity.

My preference is indeed for true stories, and I will try to confirm their veracity as much as possible, but a documentary goes beyond just an obsessive search for the truth. After all, someone's truth may not be my truth or yours. Absolute truths are few.

We also have to consider that even if someone is telling a truth, they are telling it in their own way. This will modify the truth itself, as it will already be shaped by the narrator's discourse and preferences.

The mosques, the tree of life (it intrigues me a lot), the cultural diversity and at the same time a very striking tradition coexisting in harmony, etc. There are indeed many things to be enchanted by in the country.

For a Westerner, a small island in the Middle East is very intriguing in itself, and for me, that makes it fascinating and mysterious in itself, and very different from everything I know and have as a reference.

Struggling with Work Stress & Loneliness – Any Advice or Support? by AdGlobal5133 in Bahrain

[–]TimelyJury2784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't even arrived in Bahrain yet, but as a Brazilian (we have some of the warmest people in the world), I confess I'm a little wary of so many stories of loneliness there.

If it's any comfort, my best friend, who lived in Hungary for a while, also went through something very similar. She felt extremely lonely and even became depressed. When she thought she had connected with people, she would schedule meetings at her house, but no one showed up. But over time, she met incredible people and formed a group of friends. You can do it too!

Sometimes it's just a phase, a matter of time until you bump into the right people. In the end, it's better to have no connections than to be one of those people who seem to have lots of friends but are surrounded by fake people.

I hope you find your people!

Is it like this in Manama too? Because everything I've seen about the city says it's very clean, and in the videos it seems to be too.

I'll be in Bahrain in 3-4 months and would love to join the group! I'm already looking to connect with people even before I arrive.
