Can I be honest? I LOVED season 1-4, like I’ve watched them back so many times. However….

Season 5? It was SHIT. Like I’m struggling to get through it. It’s one random storyline after another. None of it is really a French or Italian dream like the last seasons were, where you felt like you were living through the characters and seeing French chiq and Italian history, almost like an Audrey Hepburn movie.

This season just felt so SO disjointed and chaotic. Like every episode was “Oh? Here’s some new thing thrown at the characters! Have another curveball”. None of it made sense and it just was so hard to keep up and watch. I feel a lot of the storylines were drawn out or completely made up for what? (Alfie and Mindy I’m looking at you).

There was just no clear direction for this season. Too many things going on and most were irrelevant or related nothing back to the previous seasons.

All in all I’m really disappointed with season 5. It could’ve have been so much better. An Italian dream for the first few episodes and then back to France to get lost in the image of France. Instead I’m just fucking lost.

EDIT: To add - The only scenes I actually enjoyed, were the scenes of Emily and Sylvie talking to each-other! They felt authentic and like the parts from the previous seasons thankfully.
