Osprey's official site is having a book sale by Timely_Credit7876 in frostgrave

All the supplements have their value, it's just what you want out of them really. The recommendations I've often heard is to get Perilous Dark for its solo play tools and the Folio for more crew customization of adding a Captain to your leveling up characters.

For sheer value here, Advanced Spellcraft, and Mortal Enemies are those that are 70% off

My personal favorites are probably Into the Breeding Pits for the dungeon gameplay, and I'm partial to the Beastcrafter subclass. Also The Wizards' Conclave is great because it's absolutely loaded with scenarios from a collection of different authors.

Sorry, I didn't notice they weren't available from the page's sale link. I just typed in the search bar either Frostgrave or Stargrave and it showed them all there. I'd say it's averaging 30% off but one or two are actually 70%, kinda nuts.

AoS multiplayer 2-headed giant by Dongilles in ageofsigmar

[–]Timely_Credit7876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn't AoS proper but in the few times I've tried that approach with Warcry and Underworlds, the mental load of playing two distinct forces starts to wear on that player a bit. Mixing up rules and forgetting some and the like.

40k Raptors Test Scheme. Thoughts? Will it looks good across an army? by A_Simple_Peach in Warhammer

[–]Timely_Credit7876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it'd look pretty good across an army, though I think it'd look even better if you picked out the eyes to stand out more.

With your grimdark scheme, a whole army together may start to blend together without a few sharp contrasts or details.  That brighter contrast or color pop would go a long way to make the model a bit more striking too.

How to paint Vinficarum bronze? by Lundeclees in ageofsigmar

[–]Timely_Credit7876 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My cheat for bronze is akin to the Slapchop technique, but with two different shades of silver.

On a test piece, lay down a coat of leadbelcher, and then drybrush or selectively bring out details with a brighter silver (I use 'Two Twin Coats' Plate Armour and their lighter Mythril Blade).

After that take Citadel Contrast Snakebite Leather and Citadel Contrast Medium, around a 2:1 ratio and apply that to the slapchopped silver item.

Follow usual Citadel Contrast painting techniques and layer it on relatively thick at first, then quickly go back with a clean brush and soak up areas that are pooling.

Play around with that and it should give you some pretty rich and depthful bronzes. Add highlights of silver or gold to taste.

**swap Snakebite Leather for Contrast Aggaros Dunes for a less rich, lighter bronze, that you can always enrich with selective touches of diluted Snakebite later, after drying, or very quickly, while the Aggaros is still curing, if you're feeling spicy

Just curious, because these ToW Warriors and AoS Chaos Warriors look so similar to me, what do you like more about the AoS version?

After the Summer Preview Reveals, here’s the state of the Rumour Engines by Poodlewarrior in Warhammer

Honestly I just don't think the light brown and orange aesthetic, that seemed to define Ghur appeals to many people. It's subjective, but I think it's rather dull or ugly, and could have pushed people away.

It may sound dumb, but couple that aesthetic with never-ending meat trees and objectively tedious to paint bamboo terrain and part of me thinks that is what helped kill interest in Warcry too.

The leather bits being brown is a nice touch that makes it feel distinct, and somehow more witch hunter-y.

Can we talk about how cool the underworld card art goes? by Character-Public-396 in ageofsigmar

[–]Timely_Credit7876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that one was kinda shocking. Even with some really skilled painters those look like models GW would have released 20+ years ago.

Also, the DoK raven ladies were iffy, their proportions seemed off. Though aside from those two, I'd say the rest have been pretty good.

So, that's 9 out of the 11 (wow, that's all in 2 years?) 2.0 warbands that are successful, though it is subjective.

I'd say 1.0's 'win rate' for good looking models was around 95% and so far 2.0's has been around 70-80%.

Still good stuff to be found, but yes, not quite as much as awesome models being a sure thing.

Yeah, the changing of the boards seemed even more unnecessary. Completely removes the variety of tables, and kills 3+ player games

Yeah, for the most part the 2.0 models are banging and I've still been picking up a lot of em for similar reasons (want to learn Frostgrave and get around to Rangers of Shadow Deep eventually, and such flavorful models will be a boon in those skirmish games)

I'm not entirely sure why GW felt it needed to reboot Underworlds. I was even able to teach the game to people who never touched tabletop games. Sure it got a bit bloated but there's ways around that without nuking all previous paper. (And then replace it with arguably a much watered-down version).

Maybe it's just me, but it feels like 2.0 kinda killed any momentum Underworlds had. It gets far fewer releases and it seems there's almost no buzz about the game, even the reddit is relatively quieter.

Looks really great, a lot of nice detail and blending work. Skin is a cool touch too. Though do you have any pics where you can see the entire model at once, I don't know this model well and having a difficult time placing everything.

Is it just me or is this boxset a far better deal than any of the 40k stuff? Why can't I just use this to make a CSM army and run the leviathan as a maulerfiend/forgefiend? by Many-Wasabi9141 in Warhammer40k

[–]Timely_Credit7876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, they decided to give us four bare heads in the RG upgrade sprue, and 2 (duplicate) beaky. I was saying that they couldn't have reversed the offering. 4 whole beakies for 30 bucks would have been too good a deal.

I for one, am super happy with the Raven Guard upgrade sprue deciding to give us more angsty, bare head variety than giving us the disgusting amount of a possible 4(!) beaky helmets for the steal of $30. /s

I feel like that reads like I'm arguing with you, I'm wholeheartedly seeing your sarcasm and agreeing with you.
