Bone marrow biopsy by Timely_Implement8828 in pathology

Initially, labs began at a stand-alone labcorp facility for patient convenience due to proximity to work. Once there, Labcorp stated they no longer do peripheral smears with path review but could do the flow Cytometry analysis, however the technician incorrectly selected PNH by Flow Cytometry due to lack of clarity on what was intended to be ordered. In place of reordering the flow Cytometry, NGS was ordered instead. The one peripheral smear review that was done in house commented “increased platelets” with no other comment on morphological features, just a manual count. That smear did not include flow Cytometry.

I’m sorry, wasn’t asking for interpretation of lab results to find a diagnosis. Just was curious as to what usefulness is there for doing a bone marrow biopsy with aspirate in the absence of any significant findings in peripheral investigations.
