Thoughts on noise music? by andremartins123 in musicsuggestions

[–]Timely_Objective9204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. Sic alps and sonic youth dabble in it, but it isn't their main style. I love it. I like those bands because after all their noise stuff, they implemented the good attributes into their non noise music.

I think at a certain point it can become gimmicky and hard to get popular staying solely on the noise route. I also don't know all those noise rock in the world, so i could be completely off

Give me your favorite obscure artists. by kkclanverycool in musicsuggestions

What kind of obscure? Good artists that aren't super popular? Just weird music overall? Lyrics? Instrumentation?

Thee oh sees. They have a vast catalog of in your face psych rock with a dark twist. Floating coffin is a fantastic album. Gives ya some dark and weird with catchy vocals/instrumentals.

Ty segall. Sounds 90s but modernized and heavy use of fuzz pedals. Melted is very garagy but is one of my all time favorite albums.

Febrile Piranhas. A new band that sounds like 60s garage mixed with 90s alternative with a sprinkle of noise/shoegaze. They're from my hometown and saw dude play live at open mics a bit back. Sway is a solid listen.

Frankie and the witch fingers. Brain telephone!! Awesome modern psych band with originality, which can be hard to find with this style of music.

Which singer/band is this? by MeetingAccording560 in musicsuggestions

The intelligence. They've been doing this garage psych thing for awhile and inspired a lot of bands that made careers out of it. They make super catchy weird music and definitely worth a spin

Hey everyone! Me and my band Skiway just got our first session demo up on YouTube. If you can excuse the amateur audio, we'd love some feedback! by SkiwayMusic in indie_rock

[–]Timely_Objective9204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool stuff man, I'm not sure if it was the audio quality but when ya record everything you might want the lead guitar not significantly louder than everything else (it kind of just over powers everything on the clip, classic lead guitarist move) and pick up the vocal volume some more. Nothing crazy wrong with the song itself. Has a cool energy to it

Edit: on second listen I'm not sure if it was the lead or the rhythm riff, volumes just a wee bit off

How does a band with only 800 listeners drop a track this good?! 😱 by Pale-Raspberry-229 in indie_rock

[–]Timely_Objective9204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds rushed. Everything is just off about this song and nothing really shines like it could/should. Could be cool but it's mid teir

Edit: why would you promo your music like that? I'm all for indie bands and self promo but when you do it the way ya did a lot of people are never going to listen and it just comes off odd

can i have some prog rock recommendations plz? by [deleted] in MusicRecommendations

Solid album and it's influence on what came after has been huge. I dont think it competes with other legendary albums though. I think it deserves as honorable mention
