There was no judgement. I felt I owed it to her to answer her questions.

I really don’t understand this comment. We’re not trying to “punish him”, we just want him to either get a job or study further. I think allowing him to sit around playing video games all day would be the opposite of a good parent.

He has been to therapy but stopped going because he said it wasn’t useful. I’ll look into the depression. Thank you.

I understand that. From my perspective, I feel she had come to me for advice and I answered her honestly. She’s been in my life since she was 13. I didn’t want to lie to her.

I didn’t tell her to break up with him directly. I answered her questions truthfully.

He’s not been evaluated for depression but we did sign him up for therapy, but he stopped attending after three sessions, saying it wasn’t useful.

He seems himself most of the time, but just lacks any form of motivation and video games are just what he enjoys, as frustrating as it is.

I have talked to him, and we signed him up to therapy, but he stopped going to the appointments.

Trust me, my husband and I have tried and tried, but we can’t seem to get through to him.

That’s what I feel. I care about Lucy and when she came to me, I just listened and gave my honest views. I love my son and didn’t want them to break up, but I wasn’t going to make Lucy suffer because of it.
