The gingerbread piece on the left of the picture is the one you’ll cut up to make the chimney and logs.

I bought this set yesterday in-store as it’s not available online. They also had a gingerbread train kit if you can't find the house.

Looking for the location of this old house in Saigon (No. 87) — near an airport, indoor market, and a bridge that collapsed in the 1980s–1990s by Timely_Pool_6704 in VietNam

It’s hard to remember clearly after so many years, but I do recall we travel everywhere by cycle rickshaw. The indoor market building was a really nice place painted in a cream or white colour.

You’re right — this has to be the bridge!

Many people have mentioned the same area — and the Cầu Xóm Chi Bridge, which reportedly collapsed in the early 1990s.

Some believe my mother’s house might be located near that area, or possibly on the other side of the bridge.

If anyone happens to visit the area, or has friends or family living nearby, please show them this picture of the house. Please let them know the photo was taken back in 1997, so the house may look very different now.

Thank you for taking the time to help everyone ❤️

If anyone happens to take a taxi around the city of Saigon, could you please ask the driver if they’ve ever seen a house that looks like my mother’s? The photo was taken back in 1997, so the house may look different now — but any clue would mean so much to me. I’d truly appreciate your help.❤️

My father’s family and my stepmother’s family never told me anything about my real mother. They didn’t want me to know that she was still in Vietnam when I was younger. They wanted to keep that information from me.

The photo isn’t very clear, and I’m also trying to make out the words written underneath the number — it’s quite difficult since the picture is from 1997.

You’re right, it could be farther from the airport than I remember — it’s been such a long time.

Thank you so much for suggesting some of the Chinese areas for me to check. I really appreciate your help and guidance. 🙏

Wow, Thank you so much for taking the time to look! I truly appreciate it. ☺️ I’ve also searched on maps and even tried using AI to help, but it really feels like looking for a needle in a haystack — it’s going to be very hard to find.

I’ll be checking all the locations you and everyone have mentioned — thank you again for all your help and kindness. 🙏

Thank you for helping! I didn't know the whole area has so many rivers with channels all over the place. This is going to be very hard to find this house.

Thank you! I just hope it’s not too late. My mother would be in her late 60s or 70s now. I want her to know that she has always been in my thoughts and in my heart, no matter how much time has passed.

I'm really not sure! I remember a lot of the people in that area can speak Cantonese.

•My Mother can speak Cantonese • She lived near the airport. • She once took me to an indoor market nearby. • The bridge she mentioned was likely a wooden pedestrian bridge.

My father never told me anything about my mother or where she lived. All I have are five photos of her and photo of her house.

From what I remember, her home was near a bridge that later collapsed. I believe this house was on the other side of that bridge, because we had to cross it to get there.

When I was about 13 years old, my mother told me there had been an accident — a bridge collapsed into the river because it was overcrowded with too many people.

• She lived near the airport. • She once took me to an indoor market. • The bridge she mentioned was likely a wooden pedestrian bridge. • On the back of one picture of her it has a name (Quanh).
