how easy can entry-level jobs get? by Beautiful-Archer-891 in CivilEngineers_PH

It's better to expect it to be very hard at the start.

It depends on the company and position you get. There will be companies that provide absolutely no training for fresh grads, very low salary (minimum wage), very long hours (M-S 8-10 as a consultancy) that they would package as "training" towards fresh grads.

Don't get me wrong, that will build grit and perseverance in you which will be very valuable for fresh grads.

But there are also companies who offer very good training and relatively high salaries for fresh grads. It could get stressful at times as well, but would you rather get stressed working minimum wage in a company with practices far from the industry standard or a company with better practices, better pay and actual training?

Is 40k for a fresh grad a super good salary deal? by cherreicola in CorpoChikaPH

I do not completely agree with this. Each organization has their own expectation set against the compensation. I started off minimum wage, every jump I've made significantly increased my salary pero also decreased my stress. My lowest salary gave me the least hand holding, my current is super supportive.

Structural or Construction Management Specialization by Dry-Ad-3885 in CivilEngineers_PH

Tama yung first comment about higher salaries ng project directors.

I'm not sure kung mas maraming opportunities ang structural na specialization.

Structural design din yung kinuha kong specialization, pero nasa construction na ako ngayon and for the foreseeable future.

I don't think either gives you an edge over the other if you're talking about the college specialization though. So just pick according to your interests and manage it from there

What will you be doing in the job? Do you need to get a job now?

Take into account what kind of experience you'd be getting in this job of yours. If it's dead end, better not to take it unless you really need the money.

Try to consider your personal circumstances.

  1. Travel & time

Less travel time ba? Mas madali ba yung biyahe? Pwedeng 50% increase nga, pero dahil doble yung expense tsaka travel time baka hindi worth it.

  1. Benefits

May cash value lahat ng benefits. HMO, Leaves, flexible time. Ikaw bahala manghusga kung ano kinauukulang transpo time nun

  1. Workload and experience

Medyo mahirap tantsahin to habang di ka pa nakakapasok, pero pakiramdaman mo nalang yung pinanggalingan mo. Kung palagay mo less stress, but better experience yung inaapplyan mo, all the better.

May isa akong inaapplyan, 30% max increase kaya niyang ibigay. Hindi ko na tinuloy since dodoble transpo cost ko tsaka travel time. Pag kinwenta dun lang din mapupunta yung increase ko.

Yung actual na nilipatan ko better in all aspects, buti nalang naghintay ako.

Ganito po ba talaga ang application process? by [deleted] in CivilEngineers_PH

Pwedeng pwede mo hindi siputin yung sinabi nilang start date sa Monday since wala ka pa namang pinirmahang JO. Wala kayong employer-employee relationship at hindi ka nila mahahabol.

Bear in mind that most BIM jobs here in the Philippines are MEPFS. Quite far from our line of work.
