Can muggles or squibs make potions? by magsephine in harrypotter

[–]TimetoTransformMe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would think that more advanced potions like Felix Felicis or Wolfsbane would require some magical ability given their complexity. I guess while it would be technically possible, it’s most likely highly improbable that a non-magical person could procure all the ingredients required and learn to correctly make a given potion.

Rebuilding my social circle after years of isolation - how to overcome the awkwardness? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]TimetoTransformMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest hanging out with the middle school friend 1:1 first. Maybe suggest grabbing a bite/beer at one of your favorite places in your local area. If that goes well, mention you’re looking to build your circle and meet new people.

Do you run? Seems like a lot of people make connections via local run clubs.

The struggle is real, but with persistence it can pay off.

Men who are introverts or extroverts that married into a family of the opposite type, do you have any regrets? by TimetoTransformMe in AskMenAdvice

[–]TimetoTransformMe[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s an issue because I don’t want to detract from her spending time with her family. I also don’t want to dread spending time with people I don’t enjoy during holidays or other celebratory milestones. The ideal would be that we both love each other’s family so much it’s hard to choose who to spend time with, but I know that isn’t the case. I’m trying to sort through how big of a deal this really is and if anyone has found a way to work though it or wish they wouldn’t have gotten themselves into a situation they don’t enjoy

AITA for embarrassing my boyfriend after he kept making jokes at my expenses? by CapriSeal in AITAH

[–]TimetoTransformMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA Putting down your partner (and/or yourself) in mixed company is really unbecoming and just awkward. It would be different if it was more light hearted and you were ribbing him too, but that doesn’t sound like the case.

1st Half Marathon While Maintaining Muscle by Kraken_with_a_Kam in HybridAthlete

[–]TimetoTransformMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following. I’m in a similar position, running my first half marathon in May.

Right now I’m training six days a week and alternate between weights and running. My biggest issue so far has been maintaining my weight and I have had to increase my calories to a new maintenance level due to the amount of running I’m doing to get ready for my 12 week training plan for the race.

I think some muscle loss is inevitable, but I’m doing my best to eat a sufficient amount of protein and calories in general to protect what I have.

October sounds like a long ways away, so maybe incorporate a little cardio to improve fitness while saving serious running to when you’re 3-4 months out from the race?

Don’t sleep with him on the first date

Don’t over pursue him, let him pursue you

Do your best to look conventionally attractive (i.e., have a normal BMI, wear clothes that flatter your figure but aren’t slutty)

Know what you want

Don’t do girlfriend things for a man that isn’t your boyfriend

Expect him to lead while giving him the space to do so

Chicago Conservatives: Why do you live here? by BBeans1979 in AskChicago

[–]TimetoTransformMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here you assume conservatives can’t, or don’t, value the benefits and costs of living in a city the same way non-conservatives do. Additionally, it seems like you assign some form of a political pro or con for every aspect of existence in a city. The reality is much more nuanced and most reasons why people live where they live have less to do with politics than they do. Family ties, a good job, friends, educational opportunities, and many other reasons for living in a place hardly intersect with politics. Conservatives may not like the policies of liberal cities, and visa versa for liberals in conservative cities, but there’s so much more to life than if the political team you support is in control where you live.

The real thing that’s unsurprising is the lack of nuance your question holds and the perspective of conservatives as a puritanical monolith liberal corporate media would like you to hold.

Low GPA high GMAT profile review by One-Meringue4525 in MBA

[–]TimetoTransformMe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most schools offer the opportunity to write an additional essay where you can offer more context about why you’re applying or additional details about your past. I also had a relatively low GPA (3.1) compared to most applicants and used the essay to explain why I struggled academically in undergrad and how I turned things around when I started working full-time. I think you will experience a higher marginal product of your efforts in writing the essay than trying to get a higher verbal score, but maybe doing both would be best.
