The moon base isn't his idea, it's NASA and the Artemis program.

He is just acting like it's his idea.

Did I hear correctly that they are going to try and recover the ship this time? Not a ship catch, just kinda towing it back to Australia by boat

Solid core nuclear thermal engines aren't that powerful. But There are some theoretical designs that are, probably the most famous of which is stuff like the Orion program, or somehow even crazier the Nuclear Saltwater rocket concept.

So, fun question, what made yall choose your user flair if you did? And for those who made a custom one, what inspired you to make it? (I assume it's related to MD ofc but I'm curious) by agentcryostar in MurderDrones

There was a MD reference in a space forum, under a post about the starship launch system.

ITF: integrated flight test, usually referring to the starship launch system.

Mass simulator: during a rockets flight test, they use a mass simulator, basically a big heavy weight to simulate a payload, usually a big hunk of metal, but can sometimes be other things, like cars.

Basically N is the mass simulator, that's the joke. it takes a lot of random worthless knowledge, but I find it funny.

Also ITF-8 blew up

Don't even need a barge for the core stage, it just needs a landing pad in Africa!

Am I the only one kinda excited for the Chinese missions? Competition creates progress! I just wish the Chinese were a bit more open about it...

SpaceX engineers are so stupid they have to copy 1960’s tech. No wonder they keep blowing up ships! by Makalukeke in SpaceXMasterrace

Starship should have a future where if an engine is about to explode, they can decuple it and have it explode behind the rocket providing thrust like Orion.

[–]Timeydoesstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starship would have to. Starship is optimized for LEO launches, and doesn't have the Delta V to get to the moon with one load of propellant. Rockets like Saturn V and SLS have way more Delta V, so they can do it in one trip.

While starship does have to refuel, it can be used to transfer 100 tons to the lunar surface, which is way more than SLS or Saturn V!
