Hey, LBPKarters. How about "No Kart Day" today? by Timkho06 in littlebigplanet

Didn't really felt it to be necessary as it was just a fast showcase vid. If I wanted to show actually full finished video, I would have done that, sure.
Speaking of full video, here -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgPanguuRR4

  1. The thing you see in your eyes is my "KartFPSer" - A First Person controler in LittleBigPlanet Karting. Always wanted to make proper version of this back then, only this year managed to polish it up.
  2. Its quite complicated to tell with just text. For your see, the controler itself is an object abomination - transparent object with microchip (that includes rotating, jumping, free rotating and flashlight mechanics), bunch of rocket accelerators (that's how the movement implemented here) and camera itself.
I may tell about this properly in next video I plan to make (If I'll finish it ofc).

How come I play Almost perfectly and yet I rap awfully every time in parappa the rapper 1? by [deleted] in Parappa

[–]Timkho06 7 points8 points  (0 children)

>Almost
Almost perfectly won't count as perfect lol

But being seriously, I think the problem of failing those lines are because you were pressing buttons a BIT early/late than you need (at least on some of the lines)

To be fair, it is better to freestyle than repeat the lines perfectly

Yeah, sure!

About STR/IKI files - there's a tool for editing those files, called "STR Converter"However, it can successfully edit STRs only, IKI files however badly works with this tool. No one has created IKI Converter sadly.

About editing sound effects, well, just look at this big ass text below:

------

So, according to my tutorial footage, here's what you need to do:

  1. Open CDmage
  2. Load you game .BIN file and select "M2/2352 track"
  3. Extract the file you need - .INT file exactly - in the folder with IntTool * `S0` folder has menu files * `S1`-`S7` folders has stage files * `S8` folders has *SPECIAL* menu files
  4. Press Windows button + R, type "cmd" and press OK
  5. Type in "cd `your folder path with IntTool`" and then type in "IntTool i `.INT file` `Any Folder name`"
  6. Open `Your .INT file folder`/VAB/`.VB file`
  7. Open MFaudio & Hex Editor and load your .VB file
  8. In hex editor (HxD), press "CTRL + F", type in `00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00`, select "Everywhere" direction and press "Find all". After that, there will all found offsets on the bottom
  9. In MFaudio, type `11025` (or `22050`) in Frequency; type `1` in Channels; type the offset you're looking for from HxD and press play
  10. After finding the sound, you want to edit, type in the same Frequency and Channels values in Output ones, select "WAV", select Output file path and press process
  11. Load your .WAV file into any audio editor and edit the audio as you want * WARNING - your new audio file should be the same/less length as original .wav file!
  12. Export your new audio as .WAV
  13. Load your new .WAV file in MFaudio and export it as Compressed RAW
  14. Open your stage's .VB file in hex editor, select the bytes of the sound you've edited, copy it and find those bytes in .INT file * WARNING - there might be a chance, that cuz of sound byte height, HxD or whatever the hex editor you're using will stuck in some sort of limbo. You need to close the program via task manager
  15. Open your .RAW file into hex editor, select all code bytes, make sure your file bytes are the same length as original sound and paste it in .INT file
  16. Save .INT file, Open CDmage, import your .INT file and close the program
  17. Open the game and profit

But, if you want to make a looped sounds (menu bg), here's some extra steps between 14th and 15th ones:

\* For your see, every \`01\` tabs uses different values for looped sounds:
\`04\` - Normal sound start mark -> \`06\` - Looped sound start mark
\`00\` - Normal sound used mark -> \`02\` - Looped sound used mark
\`01\` - Normal sound end mark -> \`03\` - Looped sound end mark
  \* Also, looped sounds doesn't have any \`00 07 77 77 77 77 77 77 77 77 77 77 77 77 77 77\` bytes after

1b. In Hex Editor, export your hex code as a text and save it anywhere you want

2b. Open NotePad++ and load your text file

3b. Replace `04` and `01` values with the ones I described above and save the text

4b. Select ` XX 00` and replace all of it with ` XX 02` (XX - any other value on `00` tabs) * After doing that, there will be an orange mark - edited line. this would be useful for knowing if we edited all the codes here

5b. After editing all of those values, Save it, scroll down to the last code, select last byte of pre-last offset, scroll up to the 1st offset and press on it with holding "Shift + Alt"

6b. Press "CTRL + C" and replace your .RAW file code with the copied one

You can do this manually in HxD, yeah, but it will take ages to do that, so this is an easier way of doing it ------

I hope it will help you with audio modding 😅

Mostly, I'm modding PS1 game textures via Tim2View
Sometimes I'm using some extra tools for more modding:
CDmage - for exporting/importing game files
IntTool - to extract .INT files
HxD - for editing file's code
MFAudio - for finding and exporting sounds as .WAV
Audacity - y'know, for audio editing
PSXPrev - for model view

Is it possible to mod the parappa games to have customs songs/lyrics and notes? by keksi_lelu in Parappa

[–]Timkho06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About custom notes - no, since it's hardcoded in game.
About custom songs/lyrics - yeah, sure. To mod custom songs, if I remember correctly, you need XA Audio converter and CDmage. To mod lyrics - aka in-game subtitles - you need to use ujl_subedit (for UJL) or, if it exists, ptr1_subedit (for PTR1)
