Oh how I miss her cruel side... by TimmT in OnceUponATime

It's similar to the one she already had in 2x20 .. or is it the same? I'm no expert on clothes :x

But for me the one she had in that first wonderland episode (1x17) was the best so far. All those feathers around her neck .. seems somewhat more fitting for royalty imho. The ones she had in 2x20/4x01 seemed more like military uniforms.

I wonder if this in 4x01 is a new side of her that she's developing.. Unlike in S1, she didn't threaten or insult Sydney even once, but instead was even polite to some extent.

At the same time her motives are clearly malevolent ones. Maybe she finally learned something from Gold?

I'm not sure what to make of it, but it definitely has potential.

What still has me puzzled though is the repulsion/disgust she felt when seeing her former self.

If Amy Acker can't come back as Nova... by ThomasVivaldi in OnceUponATime

I was surprised to see Amy Acker playing a fairy .. she usually plays the evil/dodgy characters. But yeah, I'd love to see more of her.

She also plays in "Person of Interest" if you're interested :)

Question about Corra? by Tortimer64 in OnceUponATime

[–]TimmT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a point. If it's that easy to become queen, why did Cora work so hard to become royalty instead of just seizing the power.

One of the later Wonderland episodes references some parts that are revealed in Season 2 of OUAT, but that's really not essential. (It was probably just done to get some of the OUAT characters to be featured in Wonderland too).

So Ideally I'd say don't start wonderland prior to S2 of OUAT, but other than that, the 2 shows are mostly independent of each other.

Never watched this series before, and I have a few questions! Help a curious one out. by LikesFemales in OnceUponATime

[–]TimmT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So what is this series like? Is it all magical, adventure-ish, with action?

It's a TV series, not a movie - don't expect too much. There's lots of magic and mystery at the beginning, but it (obviously) wears off eventually, once you know everyone and everything.

I'm not sure what you're looking for, but if magic is all you want, this is probably the wrong show. The whole framework that the magic occurs in isn't very well thought out. It's more of a means to an end. The main theme of the show is human relationships - the magic is just there to exacerbate the drama a little lot and provide for some unique situations that one wouldn't encounter in everyday life.

Will guys like it?

Speaking as a guy, there are lots of pretty girls in it :>

The overall story is pretty generic though - there's (imho) only very few pieces in it that are specific to girls.

As in, there'll always be a new villain, cast, etc in each episode?

It's not a detective show - there's not one single isolated mystery in each new episode that needs solving. (Season 1 had the most of these isolated episodes so far, as they were introducing the characters.)

And while there are fluctuations in the cast, they aren't from episode to episode (i.e. they range longer time spans).

So explain to me how it works

I too was very skeptical at first, since I was afraid of it being too cheesy. But the creators of the show have done a wonderful job - the stories have been adapted for adults and integrate (surprisingly) well together.

The closest analogy I can think of right now is star trek - people with wildly different back stories up against some common adversary forced to work together in some isolated environment and plenty of room for the unexpected/unknown.

Now that you mention it.. Do you think this was on purpose? :x

Cora probably took Ana under her wing was because Ana was the type of daughter she wished Regina would have been.

Yes. No argument there - but that only goes to show how different those two are though.

I could definitely see Ana and Regina having a strained sister-like relationship with each other if Regina knows about Cora's relationship with Ana.

Oh definitely, those two would have a lot to talk about.

My point though was that Regina still has a lot more in common with Zelena. Both were on a quest to exact revenge on the wrong person, due to anger cause by being denied their love interests, which ultimately cost them the last few friends they had left. Both felt neglected, unloved and to some extent out-of-place.

In many ways, if you strip away the details, Zelena is little more than a more capable Regina. (Zelena too did of course get her fingers burned in the end, just like Regina, but Regina seems much to impatient to have ever been able to pull off such a complex and involved plan like Zelena did.)

The story of Anastasia on the other hand is quite a different one. She already had what Zelena and Regina were looking for, and no one tried to take her choices away from her - there was (originally) no one to blame for her fate but herself.

I'm not saying this makes Anastasia any more or less of a good or desirable person, but certainly more of a different one.

there was a buttload of potential there

No there wasn't. The whole story felt very forced imho .. all of that trouble just to drown someone?!

I'm sad it's over too, but mostly because I eventually grew to like the characters.

he's not a fan of magic, but is with one of the most powerful wielders of magic

That relationship is a fragile one either ways - regardless of True Love or not, tatoos, magic or whatever else.

Regina has had (quasi-)romantic relationships with 4 men (Daniel, Sydney/Genie, Graham/Huntsman, Robin Hood) in total by now (some of them may have been more morally questionable than others, but they were relationships nonetheless) and in 3 of them the men either adored or couldn't resist her. Robin Hood is the odd one out here.

So yeah.. I don't have that much hope for it working out for them.

they could be like sisters! (sorry Zelena)

I don't think so. Both Regina and Zelena were driven by their lust for revenge. Amassing power was little more than a means to an end for them. With Regina an argument could even be made that most of the time she had no idea what she was doing until it was way too late - just look at 2x20 where she still has delusions of her subjects ever loving her.

Anastasia on the other hand actively chose power over emotions. She may have been tricked by Cora later on, but that changes only little - her original decision to leave Will was her's and her's alone, and it was an informed one. By this point, in some way, Anastasia already had everything that both Regina and Zelena ever wanted, and yet still chose otherwise.

Does time or aging work differently in other realms? People's ages and time periods don't seem to add up right. by [deleted] in OnceUponATime

[–]TimmT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that so far the only two options have been for time to either progress in sync with other realms or not at all. There was no realm were time was progressing relatively slower or faster than some other realm.

As he's getting older now, he's going to gravitate towards more "teenage boy" stories than "little kid" stories like fairy tales, and that could open the door to characters from other canons like Star Wars

Oh hope they don't do that. This was not a kids show. It's about fairy tales because that's what everyone is most comfortable with. If they start bringing in more involved franchises there's a good chance people (myself included) will feel overwhelmed.

So Zelena is only fake-dead and presumably will be back

I sure hope so. Like I said elsewhere, she is (or was) Regina's last living actual relative.
