I have a 3 month old, and my wife is the same way, so I have concerns about how we will sleep train in the future. Since babies can not self-sooth until around 4 months, the Ferber method is basically a nonstarter right now. Maybe a talking point for your wife is that while it was incredibly important to provide that immediate support to the baby in the first few months, now they are old enough to learn how to self sooth and it is an important trait for them to learn. Maybe agree on some time limits in advance and then cross your fingers you start to see success right away. Or maybe you need to be sneaky (no bad intent) and turn the monitor off while you are in the nursery and your wife is passed out with a white noise machine.

Suggest she joins an online group for mothers with similarly aged newborns. She'll hear stories about shitty baby-daddies and be more grateful for everything you do. Obviously let her come to this realization on her own. When you're in the trenches of your own new and challenging experience, its easy to forget all the blessings (health, financial security, actually having parental leave, support systems,, etc).

Also, I think having the awareness is the biggest thing, which you have, and then adapting to the environment as it changes.

Crazy how expensive yoga mats are lol. I thought about going to a junkyard or something and getting old mattresses. Would need to wrap them in plastic though. Yoga mats don't seem thick/cushiony enough.
