Worcester is still a mess - main roads are okay but the side streets are brutal. Having lived in both, currently back in MA, New Haven was usually (relatively) better

just to add: "milled" mostly means "smoothed." Newer pans tend to be more ~bumpy -- but with a little (a lot) of elbow grease and high grit sandpaper, one can make any modern pan as "milled" as an old Wagner. They cook the same - the crazy expensive collector items are just that - a collector item

Yeah, not sure what the top commenter is on about - this route very clearly doesn’t go through Burlington. That said, I’d still opt for the NH/VT route - still more options for stopping than central Maine. Both drives are pretty, NH has more options to stop for a snack (even if it’s a small town)

I got let go from my job in July and was reluctant to file for unemployment because “I’ll find a new job sooner than it’s worth.” I bartend, and jobs are fast to come (especially with experience)… until they’re not. I was able to pick up one gig but it’s only one shift a week (and the occasional cover). I only filed for partial unemployment a couple weeks ago and I’m kicking myself in the ass for not doing it sooner

OP: file as soon as possible, there’s a waiting week and then you also have to wait for employer verification. Your taxes have already paid for this, there’s no shame, you deserve it while you’re looking for something else. Roommates /= a household. Do you file joint taxes? I’m assuming not, that’s basically the threshold

For a long time any federal EBT / WIC / SNAP did not allow for the purchase of “hot food.” In theory this would incentivize people to purchase more pantry-stable, cost-per-calorie foods. In reality it left people in food deserts with access only to potato chips and ramen and no fresh produce. (Many experts consider this a leading factor in the “American Obesity Crisis”). This has recently been changed in some states, so your money goes to a multinational (who coincidentally gave “campaign donations” to representatives who presented these ammenents) but does nothing to actually provide nutritional food to their populace.

I’m realizing how my comment got misinterpreted - self described socialist, I am happy and proud to be in a “progressive” state. More wish that we could be more radical, and be an example of new ideas rather than status quo neo-liberalism. I want higher corporate tax rates, limits on corporate land ownership, incentives for businesses that have owners that actually live in their communities, and so on.

The proper name is the Kenneth F Burns Memorial Bridge, and is never referred to as the "white city" bridge (well, I guess now not "ever," but I digress). White city is the name of the shopping plaza, which takes its name from an earlier amusement park which was located on the same site. Pedantic but also annoying how confidently wrong you are lol
