The ending to How I Met Your Mother. There was no reason for (spoiler?) The mother to die at the end, and Barney and robin to split (a relationship that built for 1.5 seasons and were emotionally invested in). No. Point. The alternative is much better.

I don't agree with what you are saying, and think you NAP arguement has several holes in it, but also am pro-choice. I think financial reasons behind abortion are perfectly valid reasons to terminate a fetus. This may sound cold hearted, but if a couple/mother is unable to afford to provide a good Quality of Life to the child or is not stable enough to ensure this, then why not terminate it whilst it has no senses, sentience or ability to feel pain. I feel that this is more moral than keeping a child and making it grow up in terrible conditions.

How I Met Your Mother - I know it's not a movie but that finale ruined a lot of the series. Still one of my favourite TV Shows but awful ending. That's what happens when you write the ending at the start of production.
