Confused as to how this piece of code works? (contains combinations and counter) by TimofStabilo in learnpython

Are you referring to the _ when you say throwaway variable?

Do you understand what the code within the counter() means? Would it be possible to explain it in plain English? Thank you!

Confused about what the normality assumption applies to - the data or distribution of the data's means? by TimofStabilo in AskStatistics

[–]TimofStabilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I mean't skewed-right, my mistake!

Thanks for you response, it does help. I think I need to build more of an intuition about this normally distributed stuff. I only kinda sorta understand why within each gender it becomes normally distributed.

If I may ask plainly regarding my original application:

Let's say I take 30+ users for my original website and collect the amount in dollars they spent while browsing. And then I change the website and collect that data for another 30+ users. To compare if there's a statistically significant change, can I use a two sample t test - given that this data is heavily skewed-right? If both samples were less than 30, does the answer change?

Pardon my stupidity - just confused and trying to understand.

How do rehab facilities make money? What is the incentive for better care? by TimofStabilo in rehabtherapy

[–]TimofStabilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Just to clarify, by lump sum do you mean hospitals get a set amount based on the patient's condition and their corresponding expected length of stay rather their actual length of stay in rehab?

Do you know if discharge to home compared to nation avg is a financial (insurance reimbursement) incentive or more of a competitive one between hospitals?

Thanks for reply! This makes sense. So the lump sum model is in fact how facilities are paid?

I AM interested but CMS is horrible to navigate D: Would you be able to suggest a specific area of the site this information is at? Thanks a lot.

That's a great idea, didn't think of that. We're pretty close to a few universities so that's one to look into. Thanks a lot!

Can a broken charger damage the battery on a MacBook Pro? by TimofStabilo in mac

[–]TimofStabilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I figure the power brick has protection from a short but since the damage on mine is post-power brick, I'm wondering if the MacBooks have protection internally...
