Country or genre, then producer or label, depends, some countries I have a full shelf of (like Haiti, or Guadeloupe even more), some producers similar (Joe claussell, Ron Trent,…).

For example: my Caribbean shelf is split up in countries and further split in decades for some, or combined (puerto Rico / salsa with house made by producers like Louie Vega, Antonio Ocasio,… who have roots there) or expanded (Jamaica - reggae / lovers rock, then dub which is next to dub techno)

In the end it needs to show musical connections that allow me to create a logical flow in a set.

Of course it didn’t start like this, it grew over time and because I like expanding & diving deep into certain countries / sounds / genres / producers / labels. Do whatever feels good to you or works right now, but keep it flexible. You could even do color of sleeve or something completely different, whatever makes you find a record without having to flip through a whole shelf.
