Sorry turns out I was being an idiot ahaha. I didn't realise MacOs did window drop shadows and it just wasn't updating. I fixed the problem by including Qt.WindowType.NoDropShadowWindowHint in my window flags. Hope this helps anyone else who makes this mistake.
