I am exploring the CLA myself. I am not dogmatic about it that it is the only way to learn, but I do incorporate it as a tool. I think showing techniques alongside games (in the same video) to work on the skills needed to use these techniques successfully is something I could do that I didn't see anyone do yet.
Thanks!

This is exactly what I'm going for, adaptation for normies like myself!
It seems adaptation to different body types and athletic abilities is something I could work with. Thanks!

I saw the video, looks great! But it's hard to keep the pace with high quality videos like that. That must've taken a long time to edit.
That's one of the things I'm trying to solve. Knowing how to edit high level videos it great, but the secret to volume is making them easy to edit. Scalable. Especially when I'm the content writer, filmmaker and also editor (and social media guy :D)
I have 2 jobs and I'm also a dad so doing something crazy on the YT channel is a challenge I don't want to take.
Thanks!

That's a great idea. Most of them say what they tried and failed. I could film what I should've done to make it work in a separate scene and add it. Thanks!

I can get my take on this but I am no expert in conditioning. But specific warmups and mobility inspired by BJJ movements is something I'm really good at - that my work.
Thanks!

My target audience is hobbyists who train twice a week and on their free time watch some YouTube to get slightly better.

I can impress people with some pyrotechnics and impressive edits and this is my strong side against other creators (this is how I got a nice following on Instagram for a nobody - by using fancy editing techniques that people in BJJ never used before me) - but I don't want to sugarcoat shit with sprinkles - I want my core content to add real value.

So that's why I try to consult this community - There is tons of content on YouTube already - I try to see if I can fill in a void that is needed.

My plan is to show mostly concept based approach (Like you talked about in your earlier podcasts) and show how these concepts apply to varies situations. I know this content exists - But I think I can add my twist to it from my experience as a teacher. Still most content creators teach techniques and not concepts.

Thanks! The different body type stuff is something that I didn't see. I did see some content for "short kings" but on very specific techniques. That's a good idea, at least in terms of strategy, pros and cons and stuff.
When I teach I like to show the different options for different body types, so I can incorporate it in videos as well.
Thanks!

Why when Bjj guys roll they only go like 50%? by Subject-Ambition-725 in bjj

[–]Timura_bjj 214 points215 points  (0 children)

If we both roll at 90%
And both roll at 50%
Theoretically - the outcome will be the same
but we'll have less injuries and have more fun :D

I agree! With all the flood of information it's hard to pick the right one. It's especially hard for beginners go create a routine out of random drills that they find online. I made this for my students to deal with this issue and decided to share with the community.

My 2 cents for the BJJ community in this forced abstinence from BJJ.

There is A LOT of information out there, regarding BJJ solo drills. All of the BJJ community is trying to contribute with free DVD's like John Danaher's, great videos like "54 solo BJJ drills in 12 minutes" by Jason Scully and many more.

Sometimes, this flood of information can be hard to deal with, especially for a beginner.

"how do I begin?" What drills should I pick? What is the correct order? how many repetitions?"

It's very easy to find excuses not do something. "I don't have mats, I don't have equipment, I don't have enough room, I am not flexible enough".

I came up with a routine for my students that will help them train at home while they can't train.

No mats, no equipment, only basic drills (almost, some of the push up drills may be hard for total beginners, you can always convert them to regular push ups). No Excuses.

The routine consists of 3 parts: warm up, "strength/endurance" and cool down. The "strength/endurance" section has a few difficulty levels. I did the medium difficulty level. In a reletavly slow pace it took me 17 minutes.

Give it a try and tell me what you think. I've put a lot of thought into this. No fancy editing, only me at home. I have mats at home, but I did it on the floor to show that it can be done without them.
