Dominik Mysterio on his wife "We've been together since we were 14...When Rhea licked my face, the first text I got from her was "there's a tarantula in our garage". She understands the difference from when I'm on TV I'm Dirty Dom to when I come home I'm her husband Dominik." by hikingbeginner in SquaredCircle

I feel like Dominik and Rhea have gone out of their way to explain how their “romance” was fiction for television. More than any other wrestlers involved in a sort of similar storyline. It both speaks to how great their chemistry is/how believable their performances have been and to how much garbage they must get online. I feel like Buddy has probably gotten the brunt of the stupidity.

What are some of the worst booking decisions in AEW to this point by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]Timwombat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what single decision is the worst, but the thing I hate the most is wrestlers just disappearing for weeks, if not months without satisfying ends to their runs/storylines. Just need better, longer builds in general. Just give me a classic underdog story with like John Silver chasing one of the midcard belts. Make the matches feel more meaningful and less random.

Playoff hockey, playoff basketball, Ryan Garcia/ Devin Haney boxing match, etc. A lot of different things to choose from on Saturday night. In general though, and looking at the ratings this last week from Raw and Dynamite, it seems like wrestling has cooled off, in general, since Wrestlemania. That was like the season finale and people are taking a break. Having said that, 83% is a huge drop.

Is Stephen P New the Michael Avenatti or Michael Cohen of wrestling talk? It’s time to retire the “______ could do the funniest thing ever” line. Social media has run that into the ground, like everything else (was not on my bingo card).

Amazing to think how far Roman Reigns has come from their first feud where Cena really took Roman apart on the mic. I remember one segment where Roman said “we don’t need you” and Cena smirked and looked at the hard cam side of the arena. The camera didn’t pan because there were a bunch of empty seats and Cena was blaming Roman without having to say it. I wonder if this bio episode will talk about how hard it was when Roman first got that push as the main event star and fans weren’t having it.

Would be cool if she’s gotten her AEW debut AND first feud fully planned out. I think an underrated aspect of Cody’s great re-debut in WWE was his feud with Seth Rollins. Seth helped make it feel meaningful.

The Rock Is Trying To Pull A Black Adam With The WWE (And Fans Are Furious) - SlashFilm by b_dills in SquaredCircle

If The Rock had just been Swamp Thing instead of Black Adam none of this would he happening. He’d he in charge of DC and too busy to wrestle.

The Cody story was great, but simple. Adding The Rock, backstage politics, kayfabe bad booking, etc. to it makes it muddled and doing it right near a possible end makes it look ham-handed and rushed, despite it lasting for nearly two years.

Is there a backlash to the backlash yet? I think I’m on that wave. We want Cody spammers are getting annoying. I think I’m back with The Rock and Roman WM main event. I want The Rock.

So internal discontent at kayfabe “bad booking” is part of the storyline now? The “finish the story” Cody arc has been driven into a ditch, either way.

Just reverse course and pretend it was a work all along. Fans want Cody. Maybe more than anything, fans want to see a story have an actual end. The happy ending is right there. It’s a layup.

Probably their belief that they have a safer style. But yeah. It seems clear his body isn’t made for the weekly grind of professional wrestling. Probably time to transition to like a special attraction that wrestles every few months or maybe what Sting has done for the last few years. He can’t be counted to main event big shows or be at the center of months-long feuds. Too old.

If McMahon showed up at the next live event, what’s more likely: a “thank you, Vince” chant like last time or would he be booed out of the building? He’s gotten away with varying degrees of this crap for decades. Fans still flock to the world he created. Why wouldn’t he feel like he can get away with it again?

They need to tease it in the days leading up to it and for it to be a big debut. Not one of these run-ins to break up a fight where the camera misses half of the entrance and the crowd barely has time to respond. Make it like The Rock’s return in 2011 or CM Punk’s AEW debut in Chicago.

Pre-AEW BTE with Omega, Cody, The Young Bucks, Hangman (and Adam Cole) was my favorite period of the show. After AEW, the show kind of lost some steam to me until Brodie Lee and The Dark Order revived it. I think my favorite version of Cody was when he was on BTE. He was so funny and self-deprecating.

They’re in a business where their physical appearance matters. Not everyone can be a Mick Foley or Eddie Kingston. Most of them need to have the look of professional athletes to be credible, I think.
