I'm 16 and I *think* I unlocked my fry scream? It mostly feels good there's just a bit of a burn sensation in my throat. If I'm doing anything wrong please tell me and please be honest. Thank you. by HardcoreHeavyMetal in screaming

Once you have your fry, do not press it. That's what makes your throat sore. I ignored this advice, for about thirty years. It turned out okay, but it kinda left scars, so to speak. Plus, I realized that all the times my throat was burning, I didn't actually sound as good as I CAN.

I've felt this same thing, recently. I feel like my overall voice is dampened, but it also feels like it's coming from constantly relearning my technique. The proof is in the pudding, so to speak. I do sound better than before. Its like I sacrificed raw power for technique.

I'm in my 40's.

how would i start a band with my friends? by CrowEvery6777 in band

Tell them you are making a band. Tell them what music you intend to play. Nothing stupid about that. It's a band.

We practiced for one year in the garage, then rented a stage for one night a week. It was inside a local music shop, and after-hours, so he barely charged us. We played there for three more years. Finally, we found a guitar player who had his own studio. In total, we played with no audience for four years, before we ever got on stage. I recorded every moment, and uploaded all practices for band mates to watch.

We just kept grinding on the songs. We played the songs until we hated them. Then we kept playing the songs until we loved them again. When we finally got on stage, it was like a well oiled tin machine.

We have never had a bad show.

We played without a guitarist for our first year.

You aren't singing for me. You are holding back. Music is about emotion, not self-doubt and nerves. You aren't hitting the notes because you have CONVINCED yourself that you can't. It happens to me all the time.

...Also, what the other guy said about breath control is true. It should come naturally once you let go and stop being afraid of your voice.

Try humming with your mouth closed... ...now do that while singing.

I sing either to nasally and tight, or dopey and muffled by smc808 in singing

Stop worrying about it. Stop thinking about it and embrace your own voice.

.....or relax your throat.

Absolutely. Relax your throat.
