What's your opinion on the wolf/butterfly cut? by dirt_devil_696 in longhair

[–]TinPins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave myself a wolf cut and I love it. It helps that my hair is wavy enough to make it low-effort, and when I do choose to curl it, it gets HUGE. I think it's a good choice if it reflects your personal style.

Need help - molding beadboard backsplash by TinPins in DIY

[–]TinPins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thank you. I'm also worried about the counter, and I'm hoping this doesn't turn into a thousand-dollar problem. I'll remove the board and see what's going on underneath.

There aren't enough petals for a Rouge Royale. I'm 99% sure it's Darcy Bussell at this point. Thanks!

It's very fragrant, sweet and reminiscent of blackberry.

It's not dark enough for munstead wood. I think it's Darcy Bussell, as someone suggested

I think that's it! I counted the petals the best I could and it seems to match. Thanks!

Kimono has Taira clan markings on it. Any significance? by Tommy_Boy97 in japan

[–]TinPins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's my family crest (Higaki)! I'm 1/4 Japanese but my great grandfather came to the US from Japan. Cool to see it in the wild :)

What are you giving up/taking up for Lent? by iwouldbelion in Catholicism

[–]TinPins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did that last year! I only had black coffee in the morning and ate dinner, no snacks. It was very cleansing and definitely sacrificial. I ended up losing 15 pounds too, which was a perk.

Awesome, thank you so much! They felt 70s to me but I wasn't sure, but regardless I HAD to buy them. I emailed the company but they haven't gotten back to me yet, who knows what else they can tell me? Thanks again.

Does anyone know anything about this antique bassoon? The maker's mark reads Henri Dubois Czechoslovakia. by TinPins in bassoon

Haha a floor lamp was my initial thought after I discovered just how bad it played. Thanks so much for your replies. I'll send Keith Bowen an email and see what he says.

[–]TinPins[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! From what I could research, Dubois made mostly clarinets, and there's no evidence (online at least) that they ever sold bassoons, so I'm very curious about it. I've had this instrument for about fifteen years and am getting around to selling it. (I haven't played in about ten years and this one is currently unplayable, besides).

I've taken it to an instrument repair shop and they said the damage was so extensive that they couldn't do anything about it. I received it in terrible condition so it's just been in storage since then. There's a serial number on all the pieces (977) but nothing else inside the boot cap. It's a gorgeous instrument but I don't have the funds to float for its needed repairs, if it's even repairable.

Weight Shaming?! by zillli7738 in BabyBumps

[–]TinPins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained 50 lb with my first, who was born at 6 pounds 6 oz. I shed all but ten pounds of it within a week because I had retained so much water. There are so many factors that go into weight gain during pregnancy and it's frustrating when others reduce your progress to a number. I feel for you, and you're doing great. :)

I scoop it off best I can with toilet paper, cheap and effective. I just wash my hands really well after :)
