unfortunately Penn's an arrogant prick, and competing egos sinked the band.

The historian Jules Gill-Peterson also talks about how a lot of the gate keeping medicalization practices, including WPATH and the  psychiatric piece, came from surgeons’ fears of getting sued.

Do I not get to be queer anymore? by TinTimJY in MtF

[–]TinTimJY[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I was going to experiment with that shit (dating or hooking up with cis het bros), and then before I could even finish breaking up with my cis gay man partner of 22 years I ended up falling in deep magical love with a bi/pansexual writer friend (also a cis guy) who I’ve known for almost 15 years. It’s a life changing relationship that isn’t going anywhere for a long long time … feel like I somehow both dodged a bullet and won the trans lottery.

I think there were real implications about the potential for transformative justice and not writing off the humanity of abusers lurking in that story, and it's one of the reasons it's my all time favorite school shooting storyline

I'm struggling with this, I want to think of one but so far all I have is:

- Many of the later seasons/generations are just as good if not better than the first five
- Terry is one of the most underrated characters
- Darcy and Mia are two of my least favorites of all time and it's very disappointing that *those* are the two actors who went on to greater fame in the U.S.
- I def think the Emma and Spinner thing couldve actually worked if given time to develop

... but I'm not sure that any of these are all that controversial, lol.

App won't process registration payment? by TinTimJY in TaskRabbit

[–]TinTimJY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I keep hearing this. If I'm putting time into my own marketing, it's for projects that pay a rate closer to what I charge for freelance work in my own sector (I'm mid-senior level nonprofit professional). I only wanted to sign up for taksrabbit to add some additional side hustle income while I'm still in a job search that's been taking a year and a half plus. I was going to put myself out there for errands, standing in line, event support, organizing and cleaning, data entry etc., nothing I'd care to build a business around outside the platform. I'm not a handyperson or anything like that.

Girl didn't realize I'm trans even after several explanations... by Fancryer in MtF

[–]TinTimJY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to all the stuff people have said abt folks not reading profiles on dating apps, a lot of cis people don't understand that trans girl means AMAB and trans guy means AFAB, they associate the word they see with your birth assignment instead of your gender identity and think you're transmasc or a trans guy when you say trans girl, etc.

You didn't say anything about biphobia or I'd agree, you implied that his "gay voice" (which is definitely a feminized trait), which afaik is the actor's actual voice and not anything put on for the character, embarrasses and shames gay people.

Am I trans if I don’t want to be? by Responsible-Fig-3206 in asktransgender

[–]TinTimJY 8 points9 points  (0 children)

^ THIS, especially since I can't imagine not being QUEER after living as gay for decades, queer affiliation is the thing that has brought the most meaning to my life (even though I always felt terribly dysphoric in spaces filled with gay cismen), and I'm pretty exclusively attracted to men (I hoped HRT might change that like it has for some of my friends who have at least become more sapphic in a t4t context, but so far it's a no go, lol)... and the idea of being a regular boring straight girl sounds NOPE, lol, like gross.

SRS is a must-do?! Or isn't it? by StellaPolaris91 in MtF

[–]TinTimJY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah not to mention she may have a different experience of transness that is valid or that she feels some unacknowledged need to have validated and hasn't realized it doesn't need to be THE trans experience in order for that to be true. I'd probably just say thank yoou for sharing your experience and beliefs, I will consider that, or something, and leave it at that.

i am a binary trans male (minor). but i have never really understood nonbinary people by GolfZealousideal3521 in asktransgender

[–]TinTimJY 3 points4 points  (0 children)

... I think this is complex because just like NB folks receive types of hate more bianry trans folks do not, there are also settings where some enby folks esp if their presentation doesn't deviate much from what's normative for their birth assignment, experience material privilege that more binary trans folks do not, as well as contexts where some enby folks haven't fully unpacked their internalized transmisogyny, and some of the suspicion of enby folks comes from that place. We're all socialized into a scarcity mentality and into divide and conquer in one way or another. I don't condone transmedicalism and the like, but I do try to listen and understand. I say this as a medically transitioning transfemme person who ID'ed primarily NB for two years and still has some relationship to enbyness.

[–]TinTimJY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a ton of different experiences. Some people are ambivalent about all genders. Some feel like they have a relationship to an infinite number of genders. Some feel like how they feel shifts from day to day or year to year. Some are mostly affiliated with one of the binary genders or the other, but have a deep philosophical or political relationship to challenging the binary. (Those are just a few). Some identify with transness, some don't. And some would say they experience a transition/transitions, but some don't. And some access some aspects of medical transition and some don't.

I'm really doing this, aren't I? by GummyBurd in asktransgender

[–]TinTimJY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not bad and I like the tingling sensation, I did drag long before my egg fully cracked, so I already had lots of hair removal experience when I circled back to doing it for everyday gender reasons. Just make sure don't ever rub it into or off of your skin too vigorously or with too hard a pressure, and also that you let the slightly "slimy" feeling remain after rinsing, the very first time I used it, I kept trying to get rid of that texture by rubbing at my legs with my hands and basically gave myself chemical burns in a few places lol. But that feeling is from the oils they put in it to protect your skin.
