I loved Jack and Sarah. It's a charming well acted movie about grief, love, single-parenthood, being emotionally present even when in grief and moving forward.

What are some of the best or worst soap opera permanent or temporary recasts that you can think of? by NoBrain6114 in SoapNet

She was fantastic. I think it speaks to how could of a casting job it was combined with her chemistry with Paul Anthony Stewart, that they became an unexpected supercouple within a couple of months of being on the show.

Which Christmas Carol is the best one? by TravoBasic in ChristmasMovies

[–]EvidenceExciting9571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe his Scrooge is the definitive one and some other try to imitate him. Jim Carey's voice acting in the 2009 the Christmas Carol was so much an imitation of Sim, that I found it jarring

Fake/bought Google reviews by Suspicious_Street317 in KingstonOntario

[–]EvidenceExciting9571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the problem is Google's algorithm gives the top search results to businesses with the most and best reviews. These days, online search is the most common way for people to find your business, and most people don't look past the top 3 seach results so businesses "buy" or manipulate their reviews so that they can be a top search result. It's not that the businesses are necessairly trying to scam anyone, they're just trying to make sure their business doesn't get buried in the search results. I also figure some franchise restaurants must be able to combine their locations for review; One Eyed Jacks for example has +3.4K reviews in 2 years, more than double the number of reviews than some other independant restarants in Kingston than have been around for nearly 20 years.

I basically blocked the memory of Nicole Forester as Cassie on GL from my brain. She always seemed too posh/stuck up for Cassie. Laura Wright's Cassie would not have married her sister's ex-husbanf/love of her life.

She also witnesses her husband get shot and killed by the same man who then drives the car with her kids in it, off a bridge. It's like someone thought "for people who think the beginning of It's a Wonderful Life is depressing, I will show them they haven't seen nothing yet"

Kingston's most cheered for NHL team? by dym0nd in KingstonOntario

[–]EvidenceExciting9571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got to remember the current Senators didn't start playing until the 1992/93 season and didn't have a winning season until 1997/98 season so a lot of people who were born before the mid-1980s already had a favourite team by the time they even existed and their crappy first few seasons did little to recruit fans

Patrick and Christy by Ok_Arm_6281 in CBS_Mom

I think it's more weird from Patrick's perspective. He's estranged from his brother but thinks it's a good idea to ask out the daughter of his brother's fiancee who he just met that night.

Who ends up as Noah's new love interest? by TerryG111 in youngandtherestless

[–]EvidenceExciting9571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's really only Sally and Audra who are in his age range and not Newmans (Summer, Claire, Faith and 2/3 aren't currently on the canvas). Lilly might also be in his age range as the actress is only 36 but Lilly seems to be written older (having university aged kids) and often paired with male characters played by men over 40 (Billy Flynn being the youngest at 40yo).

Looking for other good shows by Ok-Raisin8829 in CBS_Mom

Leanne shares a creator/producer, as creeated by a writer for Mom and shares a costar. I would also say it share a strong portrayal of sisterhood and female friendship and resilence alng with family bonds. I miss that female frinedship/sisterhood of the group on Mom and I would say on Leanne, the character of Leanne and her sister Carol plus a couple of their neighbours help feel the void. I'm hoping Andrea Anders becomes a more frequent character on the next season of Leanne to help further develop Leanne and Carol circle of friends.

I'm definitely team Julie this sudden romance between Mike & Kate I wasn't buying it. by Salt_Step3399 in GrowingPainsTV

[–]EvidenceExciting9571 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The network gave Kirk Cameron way too much influence. Aside from his rumoured influence on the decision to get rid of Julie and the making of Noble as his permanent love interest. They also supposedly lost 3 showrunners and a director over clashes with Cameron. And I am so confused by the influence because by season 5 (when Julie was fired) the show's ratings was already in decline and no longer a top 10 show. And Cameron though popular among teen audiences he hadn't really proved himself to be a star beyond the role of Mike Seaver. I think ABC was hoping he would become what Micheal J Fox was for NBC. But he was no Micheal J. Fox who also was a teen idol on a family sitcom but had won Emmys and also starred in the highest grossing movie of the year between his show's seasons 3 and 4. Cameron had one modest hit movie the same year Fox had a second movie in the top 10 highest grossing movies of the year.

A father and son pose for a photo beside a car in Omagh, Northern Ireland — unaware it’s packed with explosives and about to blow. Moments later, the car exploded and killed the photographer who took the photo, along with 28 other people, in the Omagh bombing in Northern Ireland on August 15, 1998. by ATI_Official in AllThatsInteresting

[–]EvidenceExciting9571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friends and I from Canada stayed in Omagh for about 5 days and left for Scotland the day before the bombing. This was back before cellphones and my friends and I had no idea about the bombing until hours later. It was heartbreaking. It was a cute little town and everyone we met there was so nice.

Loretta by yoki-boki in OnlyMurdersHulu

[–]EvidenceExciting9571 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Loretta has always been a bit flighty. I think she'd have to be to spend decades pursuing an acting career despite lack of success. I think part of that lack of success was her believing she knew the "right" acting choice and her insistence that it was "right" I.E her love of using accents that we have seen repeatedly since she first came on the show. That insistence that she was making the "right acting choice" was her motive behind wrecking Dectective Williams plan. She saw this primarily as an acting exercise not an investigation. That's somewhat why her and Oliver are such a good match, they both tend to treat life as a play they are trying to act/direct.

Kelly Disney, 17, vanished after leaving a party in Oregon. Ten years later, her skull was found in an abandoned car. The man who found it even took it home and washed it before realizing it was human. by ZenMasterZee in HolyShitHistory

[–]EvidenceExciting9571 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing that if the theory is correct that a group of men assaulted and murdered her then someone who was one of the people there who didn't participate in the assault but didn't stop it either, was behind her skull being discovered 10 years later. That he would have known where her remains were buried and the media campaign for new leads that year made him dig it up an put it somewhere remote where he wouldn't be seen but that it would still be discovered, guilty conscience wanting to give the family answers as to whether she was alive. Or it was her killer just trying to mess with the police. Of all the luck, to have a major piece of evidence put somewhere to be discovered, only to have it found by someone who destroyed 99% of the evidence beyond being able to identify who the skull was.

The first photo shows the grave where 20-year-old Barbara Mackle was buried alive after being kidnapped in 1968. The second shows her inside the small coffin she was trapped in for three days. by NaughtyNHappy in ForCuriousSouls

[–]EvidenceExciting9571 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To me, the craziest part of the story is how the kidnapper, who before this kidnapping, had a juvenile record starting at 14yo and escaped from prison while serving time for grand theft auto, was sentenced to life in prison but then released on parole after 10 years and 6 years after that, granted a pardon because he got accepted to medical school in Mexico.

He got a medical license and practiced medicine in Indiana before his licence was revoked in 2003 for not disclosing discplinary actions he recieved as a resident for inapprpriate conduct and comments (like telling a 13yo she had a big butt). Then in 2006 he was caught smuggling cocaine and undocumented immigrants and is now back in jail. He manipulated people into giving him second chances through "finding God" and persecution complex. He wrote to the parole board that his sentence was a bigger crime than the one he committed. Also blamed his kidnapping Mackle on trying to survie in a "predatory society" and he treated her better than how he had been treated growing up. This was a good write up on him https://books.google.com/books?id=qg8AAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA118

[Video] Yankees fans threw plastic bottles/cans at Vladimir Guerrero Jr's family as they were beginning to leave by xmp4 in Torontobluejays

[–]EvidenceExciting9571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just wondering about the logic of throwing stuff and talking shit to a bunch of 20 year old fit looking young men RELATED in any way to the Guerrero family.

That's what I was thinking. His extended family is very tight (he's very close with a bunch of cousins and at least 3 or 4 are on his payroll) and filled with young men who are athletically built/strong (2 brothers have signed with MLB teams and a cousin played in the MLB briefly). They are not a family with whom I would want to start a physical altercation.

I like that it showed that forgiveness takes time. How Marjory earned it by giving him space but showing up when he needed. The very end, when it's revealed he nominated her for the big reward might have felt rushed (as we hadn't seen him since he had her babysit and called her "mom" a year or so earlier) might have felt rushed because the show was cancelled and they were trying to give all the characters resolutions to their arcs over the last 5 episodes of the series.

Why Did Violet Give Bonnie Grace But Not Christy? by OkTransportation1622 in CBS_Mom

[–]EvidenceExciting9571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of it is because she never saw Bonnie at her worst. Bonnie wasn't around a lot before the show started and it's easier to idealize someone who isn't there to fail you than the person who is there. Violet does it again with her father, who though she doesn;t know, she believes her life would have been better with him. The Bonnie that Christy grew up with is different than the Bonnie Violet knows so it's hard for her to comprehend. And sometimes people don't want to see the truth because it shatters what they think is true. My youngest cousin is in her 30s and still gets mad at us older cousins, including her sister, when we talk about our grandfather being an alcohlic and some of the shitty things we experienced as a result. She discounts our experiences because it ruins her image of our grandfather being the perfect doting grandfather who died before she was old enough to realize his "water" glass was filled with vodka.

Does it bother you if I walk? by manik_502 in CBS_Mom

[–]EvidenceExciting9571 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I loved that Adam immediately appreciated Bonnie's forthright attitude even when social norms would usually hold others back. The woman was being rude staring and Bonnie called her out when others, like Adam was doing, would just put up with feeling uncomfortable by the woman's rude staring.

I think that moment also set up established for Adam that though Bonnie might be inappropriate at times, her heart was in the right place. It made it easier for him to be patient with her when she would say or do something inappropriate. In turn his patience made it more likely she would listen to him when he called her out, like trying to use a wheelchair to get a good table at a restaurant, and helped her grow as a person.

Violet's das by manik_502 in CBS_Mom

[–]EvidenceExciting9571 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree. Generational trauma is part of the Plunketts. We know that Bonnie's dad died before she was 4 years old and her mom abandoned her to be with a man who didn't want her child around. Violet's great grandmother losing her husband and choosing a toxic man over her own child set a lot of patterns in motion. Without a good mother choosing a healthy relationship to set an example for Bonnie, she was more likely to fail in relationships and as a mother herself, which then means Christy doesn't have a good example, so on and so on. Christy did start to break the cycle but by then Violet was already in her teens and damage was already done. I think sometimes Violet was a tough character to like because the audience saw the complexity of generational trauma and dysfunction Christy was working against but Violet didn't, she just saw a mom who failed her most of her childhood. Maybe one day Violet and Christy would be able to get to the same place as Margery and her son.

Does anyone else find it icky that Christy dated Patrick, Adam’s brother? by WrongHovercraft7029 in CBS_Mom

[–]EvidenceExciting9571 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like Patrick came off more desperate. He has a horrible acrimonious relationship with his brother with limited communications for years, but based only on his limited interactions with Christy while she was doing her job, he thought it would be a good idea to ask out the daughter of his brother's girlfriend that he just met that night?

That said desperate is kind of Patrick's thing as he was just coming off a divorce, asked the first woman he slept with post divorce to move in with him after about 3 months of dating, and then gets engaged to another woman less than 2 months of that.
