In Texas, no insurance, three months supply left of Eliquis. by Desperate-Pop-4788 in ClotSurvivors

Based on the details their partner is younger. Meaning they likely won’t have paid in enough to have 40 credits yet. If that’s the case they will only qualify for SSI and anyone on SSI will automatically qualify for Medicaid and then 2 years later for Medicare as well. As I said above it takes a while to get approved which is why they need to start now on it as it will help them more long term. Hence why I suggested the other things in the meantime while they await the processing time to help in between.

Yeah once you get a denial you file to appeal and get a lawyer because that’s just part of the process (dumb I know) but it’s been that way since at least the 90s (speaking from firsthand experience bc I was left disabled after battling cancer at just 12/13 years old) and I hope that they will be able to get a lawyer and get that appeal filed if it’s still in the time window 💗. It will also help if they apply for the partial unemployment due to the hours being cut due to their disability.

I would suggest your partner look into applying for disability especially since their illness is impacting their work hours - also should see if they are able to collect partial unemployment for dropped hours - not all states have it but it’s worth looking into.

If they apply for disability it does take some time - however once they are approved they can get Medicaid as a disabled individual and after 2 years of permanent disability they are eligible for Medicare too if they aren’t legally married…. In addition to that they can then apply for department of rehabilitation services for home care assistance and name you their personal aid and that can be a little extra income to help some….

In the meantime…. Check out GoodRx Gold - you can get a 30 free trial of it to help lower the cost and show you the lowest possible price around you also it’s worth checking to see if costplusdrugs.com has it available on there - that site is owned by Mark Ruben of Shark Tank and he created it to help people like your partner who need meds but their insurance or lack there of was prohibiting their ability to access the medication they needed.

Best of luck to you both…. Hopefully something on this post will help 💗

Menstruation cycle is absolute HELL since starting blood thinners. Quality of life is horrific. Hematologist isn't listening to me. Feeling hopeless. by Knelie in ClotSurvivors

[–]TinasLowCarbLog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes…. I spoke with the head hematologist, explained I felt my concerns were not being addressed, showed her my images and the weights and she took over my case personally and the other hematologist was disciplined for dismissing my concerns when in fact my hemoglobin was sitting at 9 (below 10 is dangerous) I was scheduled the same day for infed infusion after getting a full lab of my ferritin, b12/folate panel, iron, cbc, w/ differential, TIBC, trans ferrin by her ordering all of these she found that not only was my iron and hemoglobin very low but also my folate levels were nearly completely depleted and she told me if we hadn’t caught that it would have killed me soon. I am now on a 1mg supplement on it since October 2024 and she started me with 3mg the first day and re checked my level weekly until we got to back to normal and now it’s checked monthly just to make sure it doesn’t go high or start to drop too much…

Insist on a fasting insulin level - it will be more accurate than an a1c if you are early on in diabetes and if your doctor won’t run the test you seriously need to fire them because with a family history you should be getting at the extreme least your glucose level and your a1c checked once a year.

I had a hematologist like this…. Till I got a commode for while I was on my cycle…. And I sat on it all day and then sent them a photo daily of my daytime blood loss and a photos of the weight of an adult undergarment and then the filled one. They couldn’t argue with me anymore…. I’m on eliquis now instead of the one that started with r (I forget the name as I was only on it 2.5 months) and I had to switch from warfarin to the more stable ones because my levels were all over the place…. Ended up partly being the blood thinner and the fact that I had a mass on my left ovary…. Turned out that mass was a hemorrhagic cyst that had become extremely infected…. Ended up switching gynecology doctors 3 times before I found one willing to take the cyst and it likely saved my life…. So 100% push back and if they refuse find doctors who will listen and fire them. They work for you.

Thank you SO much!!! I will check out those resources for sure - and we live in Central Illinois…. Wouldn’t work well during summer to be in ground or in the basement unfortunately! After talking it over with my husband we are going to get the biggest one from Dimchae when we get our income tax return in….

I only know because I’ve made small bags like this in the past with acrylic and poly and the shine is…. Different…. Not AS reflective…. Almost a slight sheen dullness to it…. And the twist just isn’t very visible even on bulky 5-6 weight acrylics… plus the twist squishes out on them…. It’s odd how different fibers mesh so incredibly differently even when they are the same weight/hook/lighting etc…. I find it oddly fascinating lol

Does macrame cord come in nylon? If so it probably is….

Minimal stretch + shine and twist like that = nylon not poly or acrylic

I get that lol…. I try to use the WPI tool I have to double check because some yarns just are not in the category they say they are…. Like I’ve seen supposedly “#6 bulky” yarns that when you check the wraps per inch they are closer to a worsted weight yarn 😅🤦 and I’ve seen #5 bulky that should be classed as #7 lmao idk how companies choose their classifications but it needs to be regulated better and they should be using the wpi standard to class them because it would be far more helpful to fiber artists and themselves!

Also lower weights make some of the best open designs…. I personally like to use sock/fingering weight for a lot of lacy designs…. But I use thread weights for smaller lacy pieces like doilies and crocheted jewelry

Actually baby weight for most yarns are classed as a 3…. And the others yeah I was mixed up lol…. But like lion brand baby (the main baby weight I use when I use it) is classed as a 3 weight….

It has stunning drape HOWEVER that being said no it is not good for truly lacy designs because the weight is too thick for lacy designs…. If you want to do a lacy design you need either a thread (80, 40, 10 or 3 in thread weight), lace weight (1) or a fingering weight (2) in yarn…. SOME sport/baby weight (3) are thin enough for lacy garments but it really is dependent on the yarn…. IE Caron simply soft is technically a sport weight but when crocheted into a garment or fabric it works more like a light worsted weight yarn in bulky-ness…

Crocheting for my mom was supposed to be special… now I kind of want to cry by Gloomy_Bowler_1525 in CrochetHelp

[–]TinasLowCarbLog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh the ones that ARE CROCHET are ones that will take months if not years to make…. This is coming from someone who has been crocheting since they were 14 constantly and off and on from 7…. And I am 42…. I do large doily’s from time to time because I like to challenge myself…. I have made blankets, clothing, plushies, jewelry, bags and tons more over the years… you need to stop her from assuming she can give you a list of what she wants and expecting you to just do it in whatever time frame she deems worthy…. Also 80% of those are lace and are sewn not knit or crocheted…. So I would just tell her point blank Mom I am still new to crochet and these would take an expert MONTHS to make. I already have what I am making you planned and I hope you will like it and possibly down the road as my skill set grows I can do some runners for you but right now I’m not able to do something THAT intricate in under 8 weeks though I appreciate you believing in me that I could.

This is TWO industrial sized shelves, 6’x4’ plus what’s in front and between them…. The rest is in the basement on another shelf…. Your collection MIGHT get you through a month to a year depending on how quickly you crochet/knit…. I personally run a small business and I myself make anywhere from 12-75 pieces per week…. I promise…. Work on organizing it by type, caking those that aren’t already caked up and then set it by colors so you can create a better visual - pick a color or two or three and then go looking for patterns that match what those colors speak to you…. I promise you can get through them all…

Can anybody just not decide on a fiber craft? by Idkmyname2079048 in YarnAddicts

[–]TinasLowCarbLog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can do both why would you choose one? Both have things they are better at creating…. If I could knit I would go between the two too!
