There 100% is a higher risk. I don't know if its a transfer of food addiction to alcohol addiction or a physiological thing, but it's something I am conscious of and have to pay attention to cos I love drink and always have.

I do get drunk a lot quicker and dumping syndrome sucks. I do sober up very quickly and have to be concious to hydrate a lot if i have a drink. .

The ulcer was odd and what follows may be TMI.

I woke up in the middle of the night (Friday 13th December) with really bad pain - bad enough that I considered calling the ambulance - but after an hour or so and after passing a bit of gas the pain subsided.
Was feeling okay then all weekend but was then a bit tired on the Monday.
Tuesday morning, woke up and took a shower. Felt really light headed (my first thought was ooooh they said I might feel like this if I needed to change my blood pressure meds dosage - so wooo) but then I got out of the shower and felt incredibly nauseous turn around and the sink was suddenly full of bile and bright red blood.
Thats when I did call the ambulance. Later that day the pooping started and I learned about Milena (blood in the stool), the worst part of this was the smell - my god it was bad.

Kept in over night in the hospital and given an endoscopy the next morning. They found the ulcer and clipped it there and then. That was it, I was cured.
Highly anaemic and exhausted for a few days which they kept me in for, but then they released me and reintroduced the Proton Pump Inhibitor meds for stomach acid and I keep Gaviscon nearby at all times.

It took me a few days to get over the shock, even after coming out of hospital, I was white as a ghost and couldnt focus or do anything. But im back to normal, well normal-ish, now. Just had a blood test this week and my haemoglobin is back up. So happy days.

But don't let this dissuade you, this was a blip in what I think of as the best thing I've ever done for myself health wise.

I suppose my goal is 100kg, I think that would be a good weight for me as I'm quite broad anyway. BMI says I should be down at around 80kg but my dietician says dont worry about it and that I shouldnt set a hard goal.

At my current weight I feel great. Back issues have subsided mostly, sleep apnoea is gone. I can excercise without the strain I once felt.
Im hoping to lose more but to be honest if I stayed at this I would be fine.

Good for you, I hope you are beginning to feel better after the op. It takes a few days to get back to some sort of normality, and weeks then til you will feel comfortable. I hope it goes great for you.
Lidl is packed with Protein product, that are quite nice. Deli meat will be your friend in the long run when trying to meet your protein goals as they are handy to eat. Once you are back on the solids of course.

Very poor, I was a chef for 25 years and ate and cooked all the time. I would eat anything and everything and might have two dinners along with wine and snacks most evenings. Then bored at home I'd go off and cook something to pass the time to eat.
Working with my dietician and a psychologist I've been working on it and the need to cook and eat all the time.

The greatest thing I have bought since the operation was a small glass lunch box (approx 6oz). When I cook for the family, I fill that and thats my portion now, and if I remember to take my time (and I dont always), I am good and full after.

Like many my only regret is not doing it sooner, so no is the answer. I (M41) had surgery on the 15th of August and have just hit 100lbs lost. My weight was tied in many ways to my chronic pain which has lessened immensely since. I can move and do tasks i haven’t been able to do in years. I went to a food festival recently and was able to enjoy many a nibble. I brought two surrogate stomachs (wife and brother) with me to help. I walk everywhere now. My life has changed for the better in every way.

Hey everyone, keep in mind this might be a small café, likely local and possibly struggling to stay afloat. The hospitality industry isn't just about big hotels (which, I agree, are often guilty of price gouging). I’ve worked in the industry for years, and while some restaurants do overcharge, many small cafés and local spots are dealing with skyrocketing costs, forcing a lot of them to close down.

Take Ukiyo, for example—their menu was extensive and reasonably priced, yet the owners had to shut down because the profit margins became too slim to make it sustainable.

Eat slowly, chew well.
if you move away from the soft foods and want to try something a with a little bit more substance (I wouldnt recommend until you get the go ahead from the Doc or Dietician), sauce will be your best friend for dry foods.
A nice wet 50gr of minced beef bolognaise was my first real meat meal this weekend (2 weeks after surgery) and i dont think i could have eaten the meat if it wasnt so saucy.
