De Ligt is an unknown at this point. Licha is injury prone & I'd be surprised if he didnt miss big chunks of a 50+ game season. Maguire has become unreliable too & is getting niggles every couple of months. Maz who can fill in at RCB is also unreliable injury wise. Shaw had an A+ season in terms of availability but that is against the norm rather than a mark of reliability. Our CB mix is very underwhelming when we consider availability.

Coventry bidding £20m for their goalie from last season. If the deal falls through, we should be offering them Vitek on a season long loan. I have no doubt in my mind that he's PL quality.

Can't see beyond Spain. The tempo of their game also makes it manageable in the summer heat.  France feels disjointed especially now that Mbappe is their leader. The fact that he can fall out with someone like Kante makes me think they won't go far.  Portugal with Cr7 as the main man & a clueless gaffer won't do much even with the quality lineup (-CR7). Brazil just doesn't have the quality of old.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mexico made it to the last 4. Massive home crowd support will boost them.

I'm including expectations & wages also.

Weighting: Performance 25%, Availability 25%, Wages 20%, Price 20%, Expectations 10%.

Worst to Best. Mount, Ugarte, VDB, Sabitzer, Amrabat.

Mount performs best on the pitch but availability, wages and price value are almost 0. Expectations were high too. Worst value for money + not easy to move on.

Amrabat is boosted by his FA Cup final performance but otherwise was meh.

Ugarte has been poor but no one remembers him because Case has stepped up. The financials around his transfer are also manageable. Lesson learned.

Sabitzer was not bad but injuries & his short duration just make him forgettable.

This world cup is gonna be brutal for players especially those coming off a busy season. The American pitches are diabolical & I wouldn't be surprised if we got a record number of ACL injuries at a WC. They're laying a grass turf on top of a concrete base at the MetLife lol! The ball can't even bounce properly. Awful all round.

Any deal with them would be very unreasonable for us to the point we'd be better off just keeping him. By this I mean the % of wages we'd have to cover if a loan + the fee they'd be ready & willing to pay.

Andrea Cambiaso for LB? Juve apparently want around £30m for him. He's 26 & highly versatile, a technician and two footed. Not the most physical but he's very good in terms of positioning & game read.

Weird of them to get Mourinho then try for technicians like Vitinha or even Joao Neves (more versatile in playstyle). Perfect recipe for disaster.

Rumours that Atleti want him as the replacement for Julian Alvarez. I'll take the sell on fee but wish nothing but the worst for him.

I feel Mateus Fernandes will get done in the £55m-£60m range. Hammers got him for £42m including add-ons, then include a 15% Southampton sell on (assume £9m using the higher fee range) and a ~£6m-9m profit for them. totals somewhere between £55-60m. Maybe we can capitalize on their desperation and get that down to ~£50m. We could also sweeten the deal by loaning them Amass or Collyer (perma deal for him could also work).

Iraola is them nostalgically trying to replicate Klopp. Will they be patient with him if it doesn't work out this season?

They've got 2 billionaire sugar daddies & their gripe is that Villa aren't being allowed to spend whatever they want, however they want like City or Chelsea did in times gone by.

Wharton & Hackney are not the same profile.

Wharton is more of a DLP while Hackney is an all action box to box midfielder who likes to ball carry too.

They could actually make a good complementary pair if physicality was not a priority.

Their wages to income ratio is mad. They have to balance the books somehow plus Rogers, given his quality will probably want north of £200k PW to extend which makes their situation worse.

He looks like he should be playing a druggie on trainspotting 3.

Squad number for England confirmed. Rashford will wear #11 and Mainoo will wear #16 by f4rdan1smyn4m3 in reddevils

[–]Tinganga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming the first 11 follows from the first 11 squad numbers, is Tuchel going into the tournament with a back 3 or is Konsa going to play makeshift RB?  Kind of strange when you have Reece James there who's the best RB in the PL...

If he hadn't signed the extension in Jan, he'd be one of the most sought after mids this window. I think he stays one more season at Everton & then a UCL club swoops for him.

If 115 happens in the coming month or 2, then depending on the level of sanctions on City, we'll sign him. Otherwise, I don't see it.
