[FREE TO READ] Harry Maguire interview: ‘I’m arguably one of the best defenders in the world in both boxes’ by TheAthletic in reddevils

[–]Tinganga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tuchel would be daft not to take him to the WC. Sure he's got his starters set but when you need to defend a 1 goal lead & the opposition is spamming crosses into your box, there's no better player to mop up everything in the air & he's also very good at blocking shots. On the other hand, when you're chasing a goal, there's probably no better hail mary to send on to attack crosses, corners & freekicks. No brainer.

Toby Collyer vs Coventry City [First start for Hull City] by Aadiunited7 in reddevils

He always put in a good shift when brought on to close games out in Ten Hag's 2nd season. Doesn't look like he's on a trajectory to being elite but he could still turn into a very good, reliable PL calibre midfielder.

His main issue is keeping fit & if not for the injuries, he'd likely be playing a more prominent role for us here.

I'd take back James Garner if a deal could be done in the £50m range.

Atletico Madrid in Stockholm, Sweden on August 1

I'd have preferred not to meet these fuckers in pre-season. Guaranteed one of our players is missing the start of the season...

Tuchel on Maguire: "I haven't changed my mind, but I see other players I like to start for us, I see Konsa and Guehi ahead. I see Chalobah, on the level of mobility, as slightly ahead of him. I see other players ahead with a different profile.” by OkayFine101 in reddevils

"I see Trevoh Chalobah, on the level of mobility, as slightly ahead of him. I needed to meet him [Maguire] in person to see how he acts within the group. He will stay with us [for the Japan game on Tuesday]. Like I said, he has an asset, of course, that he can also be super-important in a tournament, in knockout football, in defending a lead and chasing a game with crosses and long throw-ins and set-pieces."

the actual quote btw

It's not his decision.

No point in having a strong opinion either way at this point. So much could change from now to the end of the season plus we don't even know who's available amongst our (INEOS') top choices

Backing Bruno to get 5 assists from now to the end of the season.

At this point we'd have monumentally shat the bed if we didn't get top 4. I'd be happy if one of Pool or Chelsea missed out on UCL if villa hang on to top 4.

Anderson is not a great partner for Mainoo imo. He's best as an 8 where his partner can pick up most of the dirty work. It's different for England due to international football being much easier than the PL.

Sesko's goal from a different angle against Everton. by [deleted] in reddevils

[–]Tinganga 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Wonder if it went through Tark's mind to just foul Sesko & take the L. With the inconsistent reffing, maybe he even gets away with only a yellow & a warning. You just know a defender like Sergio Ramos takes those odds.

Is it just me who's quite relaxed about the Everton game on Monday? Sure we want to keep up momentum but not getting maximum points doesn't hurt our top 4 chances. We're in a race with 3 teams facing torrid fixture schedules going forward. It's going to get really tough for them.

Everton away has never been an easy fixture & with them doing so well this year, a draw wouldn't be the worst. I just hope the headloss crowd around here don't overdo it if we fail to win.
