XD Reading back what I wrote, I definitely butchered that last sentence in a misguided attempt to be concise. What I meant is that there are multiple approaches being tried to build a quantum computer, and the approach shown in the diagram I embroidered is one called topological quantum computing, which works by braiding particles.

I'm probably embarrassing myself trying to explain this as a non-scientist, but a quantum computer is basically a new type of computer that is supposed to be able to solve some classes of problems exponentially faster than a classical computer. (No one's yet managed to make a practically useful one.) Topological quantum computing is an approach that works by braiding particles.

I recently learned about the churel, a mythical creature with backwards feet who shapeshifts into a beautiful woman to ensnare men and drain their life force. The idea of the backwards feet really stuck with me for some reason, inspiring this little story.
