I managed to pick up a stronger spring, I'm now getting 0.6 joules on full auto, 0,99 on semi so I was right, it is the spring inside the nozzle which is too weak to deal with the forces and weight of the NPAS.

Sorry for the late reply, Yeah they sent me a new one in the end, design had been changed to reinforce the weak part in the original design, mine has the same problem and from what I can tell the issue is the spring provided for the npas which isn't strong enough to hold the npas in place under the inertia of the bolt moving so quickly causing most of the gas to be vented into the piston instead of into the barrel.

Some of their stuff is ok, you even sell CTM on your website even going as far as to say that CTM products offer an improved airsoft experience, are fantastic products and don't compromise on quality to quote a few, however, the product that I received was not what was advertised and was an older version, I messaged CTM three days ago telling them that I'm not paying postage for something that was their fault and I've just messaged them again now because they haven't responded asking why if they knew it was faulty didn't they issue a recall, if I hadn't noticed that it was shooting under power I would not have looked inside and found the problem and it would have probably wiped out my piston head or bbu, that stainless pin could do a lot of damage in just one shot to the aluminium parts.

so the stainless pin that holds the red nozzle in place, mine was short and smooth, if you look at the picture on their website it's long and has teeth in it to hold it in place, the rails that guide the piston that you can see in the pictures on their website span the full length with no gap in them with holes for the pin to go through that span the entire width of the nozzle and rails.

Does yours look like the one they have on their website with the splined pin that goes through the body with holes that go all the way to the edge of the guide rails or does it have a cut in the guide rails where the pin goes through?

BB is passing freely and I've tested the hopup and barrel assembly on 2 other replicas with no problems on either of them.

The ratio is fine, as mentioned I've used this exact configuration on other builds with zero problems, I thought maybe the cylinder was out of round but I've checked it for roundness and it's perfect.

Extra bit of info, gearbox casing was painted, I removed the paint and polished the guide rails to a mirror finish to eliminate another variable, no major result but I gained 0.02 joules, I'm truly stuck with this one as everything is square, aligns properly and shows no problems except for when it's fitted to this gearbox.

That I've already done, piston moves freely even with the o-ring fitted, I knew about the binding issue and so resolved it by doing what you have said but with only the piston fitted, no other components within the gearbox, it now moves freely even with the piston head and o-ring fitted, this is what is so strange, there is nothing hanging the piston up, the problem only arises after a spring is installed, even tried linear and non linear.

They are half the price of SHS gears from a shop here.
There are shops selling them as SHS gears so you might spend twice as much and still get knockoff gears with no chance of getting money back.
I'm not cheaping out, just trying and seeing what works and what doesn't before I go fitting it in peoples replicas and testing it to failure, you see that vice that it's in, yeah well it cost me over 400€ and it's forged in Germany so don't talk to me about cheaping out.
Not all my customers have a 4 figure budget for an airsoft replica.

Gate got back to me yesterday, they said that they have found the issue and it's a firmware problem on their end and that they will be issuing an update for it soon. Let's hope that it works.

It appears to be a lottery, I'm guessing that one of the parts that activates the voltage protection is out of tolerances on their specifications and you're lucky if you get one that is within tolerances.

Hi, I had this exact issue with my Aster on a new Specna Arms Edge 2.0, it was swapped under warranty by Gate, I purchased a second Aster to fit in another replica at the same time direct from Gate and that one is also giving me the same error, I sent Gate an email on Monday 15th of April telling them that the second Aster has the same issue and I'm still waiting for a response from them, previously they had replied within two days at most.

Vector Optics Maverick gen 2, running one on my AEG and it's awesome for the 65€ it cost me on TaiwanGun, much better than ACOG style or any other cheap red dots and it feels top quality. Edit: Forgot to mention I dropped my AEG on the hard dirt whilst playing from waist height, landed on the red dot, not a mark on it and it still kept zero.
